Re: Is a separate keyboard amp generally a good or bad idea?

If you have a personal monitor already, and you're getting a new PA, then I definitely *wouldn't* get a separate keyboard amp. Put the money for that towards a decent PA, preferably with one or two subwoofers, or at least 15" speakers on your tops if you're not getting subs. (That is one way in ...

Re: Is a separate keyboard amp generally a good or bad idea?

>keys often do much better through a keyboard amp than a "regular" PA system. Not true. In fact, it's usually the other way around. Keyboard amps can be mediocre. I never liked Roland's KC range either. For that reason I switched to using a single PA active monitor for my keyboard amp instead of a ...

Re: Teaching a 5-year old piano

I'm a fan of teaching little kids clapping exercises as well as starting on an instrument. It's easy to make the exercises fun, so the kids hardly feel they're working, it improves their basic rhythm, plus you can easily introduce crotchets, quavers and minims into it before long so they get used to ...

Have studios moved to using USB mixers for recording?

Having taken a long break from recording, and looking to come back to it eventually, I was wondering – mainly out of academic interest – about the following. Do studios – pro, semi-pro, or home – prefer to do their digital recording via a mixer with a multi-channel USB output these days? Or do they s ...

Re: Does rock wool or glas wool need permeable cloth around it?

I never put a frame around my rockwool slabs, but that requires buying ones that you know can support themselves, and it depends on how you're installing them. They can vary quite a lot in how stiff they are. Generally the thinner ones tend to be flimsier and fall over more, but it depends on how ...

Re: I'm not sure I'm getting the point of some new products

I don't think the Signature 22 provides mulritrack recording. You’re right Hugh, sorry, I meant the MTK version. The MTK version doesn't provide on-board multitrack recording either, it just provides a multitrack USB output for sending to a DAW. A quick look at the Tascam website shows that they a ...

Re: MAGIX is insolvent

I would argue that it isn’t better. I took Resolve off my computer because it is totally unintuitive. I couldn't even do a simple thing like extract four channels of audio files from an MP4. I bought Vegas once they came back to their senses from the idiotic subscription model. Nobody except i ...

It's quite short and not a difficult read. You mainly need to read the Class E section.

Re: Interesting keyboard for live use?

According to a 2019 review you could make a 96-key keyboard out of it. But this is not mentioned on the current website, so I suppose there wasn't too much demand for that. I could make use of it, but unless you're playing on large stages other band members would complain.
