There are many ways to skin this gooseberry. But each way will be a compromise from where you are now.
I'd say your first job is to create a list of your requirements, and then order them from most to least important. Somewhere down that list will be the point where the compromises begin.

Re: The cold reality of synthesizers
..like trying to paint your hallway by poking a paintbrush through the letterbox. Ooh! A bold unattributed quote in SOS. Wasn't that Gordon Reid in the review of some TG module? I loved that line; it so perfectly described the experience of programming those modules. [EDIT] No - *I'm ...

I'd love to hear that ajay (or even try it out on my own Hydrasynth keyboard) 8-) I have no idea how you can share things via the forum, unfortunately. We don't host user content on the forums ajay, but I'll send you a PM with my email address, as a Hydrasynth preset could easily be attached to an ...

Re: Sound For YT Livestreaming
It sounds like you are really going to have to get to grips with TotalMix. The good news is that it's really not as complicated as it first appears. The top row represents all of the physical inputs of your RME interface. The middle row represents the outputs that your software/DAW sees. The bottom ...

Re: Patch Bay so confused - Neutrik NYS SPP L1
A simple I/O designation example from a studio I helped to set up:

Here you can see the inputs from the studio wall box normalised to the RME Fireface's inputs, and the outputs from the Fireface normalised to speaker and control room headphone amps.

Re: Patch Bay so confused - Neutrik NYS SPP L1
Having a single device's outputs and inputs above each other on the bay, for the most part, is not the way to do it - especially if you are normalising them. 'Normalising' a patchbay is about designating your inputs and outputs such that you can work 'normally' with no patch cables in the front of ...

Re: Comping on a portable recorder
If you have an iPad, or even iPhone, then Cubasis might be a good option - just using the built-in mic for your voice. It pains me that Apple have seen fit to rid us of the headphone jack, but you can get a dongle to fix that.

Re: Zinstall WinWin - PC transfer software. Any comments?
Wonder if it includes software authorisations. I used some migration software way back when, I think it was Acronis, but not 100% sure about that, anyway, it didn't include authorizations and in some case I lost one of my '3 strikes and you're out' authorizations. In that case I contacted the ...

Re: Help me identify this synth
Almost any half-decent analogue-alike polysynth could get you that.
Surge XT is a perennial favourite. If you can't get something close with that it I would be surprised (assuming you have some basic synth skills).

Re: Get MixBox for £20
Discontinued or not it's a VST3, so should remain compatible for a few years at least. I bought it on a previous sale offer and, much like Rich, I don't use it much, but it's a useful spanner for the toolbox.

Re: Wireless IEMs and cue tracks
Just want to report back that the cheap little Lekato IEM system is working perfectly. There's no discernible latency between my IEMs and a PA 8 feet away from me. Re: How can I tell by inspection if my USB cable is for audio or MIDI?
USB cables carry data - lots of ones and zeros. They don't care what that data is. There's no such thing as a USB cable for audio or MIDI.
Just use good quality USB cables where it's important to you and you'll be fine.
