Figure-8 is also useful at times, as is a hyper-cardoid mode in some circumstances.
The more compromised the room sound, the more you have to make use of tighter patterns to block out that room sound.

Re: recording vocals in omni
Loads of people record vocals with in omni mode. You don't get the proximity boost with the bass end you get with a cardioid. But you do pick up more room sound (probably why it sounds more natural), so you need a good sounding room to record in. On some vocals you can benefit from a bit more bass, ...

Re: BFD2 Automation Cubase 8.5 Pro (Does it work?)
I'm not that sure what you mean by 'link' and 'unlink'. 8.5 is my weapon of choice and I think I have BFD2, though I haven't used either for a while.
How are you linking them?

Re: MSR800W
But you can always give it a go and see what you think. I’d probably set the crossover to 80Hz, to avoid putting out low-mid frequencies that could upset your stereo balance. Note that the bass response (graph in the user manual) is nowhere near flat, with a pronounced peak at 70Hz, which is about 2...

Re: MSR800W
Too much bass. Unless you have a lot (and I mean a lot) if bass trapping, you are going to get a very lumpy and uneven bass end with lots of resonances. Often better to use normal monitors and use headphones with a good bass extension if you want to hear what’s happening at the bass end. It’s also l...

Re: EV elx200-12sp under Yamaha dxr8, thoughts?
Looking at the frequency graph of the DXR8s, 120Hz might be better than 100Hz as there seems to be a 5dB-ish port boost around 100Hz, so a 120Hz crossover might flatten that off a bit.
But I’d try both and see which sounds best rather than work from a smoothed average response graph.

Re: Longest safest cable for condenser
Not to a non-native English speaker it won't be. Fine in a thread a regular started in say the DIY section, but it does help if you try and stick to the actual words where the O/P is obviously new to the subject.

Nukes? Presumably Neutrik but I'm never 100% sure sometimes.

Re: Longest safest cable for condenser
Dave, why can’t you just use proper names for things like other people? The O/P is in the Philippines, but even people in Peterborough would struggle with some of your nicknames. And whilst cheaper than Neutrik XLRs are OK for some jobs, as Hugh often mentions, the housing size on some of them can v...

Hi and welcome, Jimi. Michael Wegen doesn't say exactly what his picks are made of but I'm pretty sure it's an advanced acrylic used to make dentures...
So that's how Jimi could play so well with his teeth?!!!
Working in the music press, you obviously have incisor knowledge.
