Re: Print subscription not available for me

Where are you based?

I think the Print sub option has been removed from Australia because the costs have become too high.

Re: Which XLR Chassis Connector to buy for patch bay

Terminology...

From my BBC heritage, any facility to patch signals between sources and destinations is a PATCHBAY — whether performed manually with cords, or electronically.

A panel full of sockets with normalling facilities is, to me, a JACKFIELD.

Other definitions may be available....

Re: Shure Vocal Master - reverb circuit design

Today I have a question about the infamous Shure vocal master from the late 1960s. Does anyone have any information about the reverb circuit that was used in the machine? The user and service manual for the Shure VA300 Vocal Master is available here: https://share.google/poNlmAAGsYmGyuHSQ When the ...

Re: Which XLR Chassis Connector to buy for patch bay

The art pro xlr patch involves no soldering at all. It has male XLRs on one side and female the other, with rack ears which can fit to either side to allow 16 males at the front or 16 females. Install two strips, with studio stage boxes and preamps plugged in at the back, and you patch between them ...

Re: Which XLR Chassis Connector to buy for patch bay

I was thinking that yes so all patch cables are male both ways so (like a jack patch bay) I don't have to put the cable in a specific direction. :wtf: I think that way be dragons. It risks confusion over inputs and outputs, and the potential to inadvertently send phantom power into places it ...

Re: Which XLR Chassis Connector to buy for patch bay

Do you really want just female XLRs on the patchbay? I'm afraid I don't have any experience with Amphenol XLRs, but other connector types Ive used made by that company have all been fine. Neutrik have a low cost chassis XLR range with plastic bodies — the PP Series. And their budget brand, Rean. But ...

Re: Mixer, running out of inputs

So it seems to come down to another analogue mixer feeding the A&H or just a bigger single unit. The link cards seem to be no longer available? Possibly... I've not looked. I'm sure A&H could advise... It's not available for the current MixWizard 4 consoles because those use the space for the USB I ...

Re: Interesting project

If you can find somewhere equipped properly with 7.1.4 monitoring to listen to it, sure, why not? It's as good a solution as any in the immersive ecosphere. And, if you have 3D printing facilities it would be cost-effective too. I was amused by the author's statement: "What stereo did to mono ...

Re: Mixer, running out of inputs

Allen & Heath offer a SYS-LINK board which can be installed (retrofitted) in all MixWizard consoles to join two desks to make one big desk, with properly shared facilities between them. There are two versions (V1 and V2) depending on the age of each console, but they can be interconnected with the ...

Re: Mixer, running out of inputs

^ This.

Simples. Have fewer sources available during initial tracking.

You've got to make a compromise somewhere, and that is clearly the least disruptive and expensive option.

Re: Calrec Cm652 48V TO 12 V ADAPTOR CABLE QUESTION

The CM600 range had an unbalanced audio output, with a separate DC power input — both sharing a commentary screen/ground return — connected via a 3 pin Tuchel plug. I believe the DC power was a nominal 50V rather than 12V, although I expect it would work on a lower voltage (with reduced headroom). N ...

Re: VHS PCM recorder

Oh! I was always told Hugh it was Philips who insisted CDs must be the size they are for use in car players? If the sample rate was the more obvious 48kHz the playing time would have been reduced? Another story was that there were no crystals available that could easily be divided down to 48kHz ...

There are some legacy hardware ambisonic decoders around, but DAW plugins are definitely the way to go. Rode's plugin is one of the best, but there are others. The mics were set up in what I have now found out is called a nimbus Halliday array. Ah... that makes a bit more sense. As Alex has said, your description of mic positions is confusing.

And what instruments were positioned where.

Again, as Alex said, anything to the sides of a Blumlein pair will have huge out-of-phase issues.
