Re: The cold reality of synthesizers

My Mam was an interior decorator and me Dad was a gynaecologist, so I can paint your hallway through your letterbox.

...oh, so that's where it comes from. Elf just picked it up from repeating smutty jokes down at his local. :D

To be fair it can get a bit "demon hive". :D

I thought so but didn't dare say. :D

But as per Wonks, it's a common source of confusion and the first thing I'd check.

It's morally wrong tbh.

I was just looking what general-purpose storage for forum-link purposes was available, an equivalent of Imgur for pics or Soundcloud for WAVs, and came across catbox. https://catbox.moe/ Never tried it. Re: Logic just for a change

I got all the DAW-swapping out of my system many years ago, messing around with Cubase, Nuendo, Live, Studio One, Reaper, Sonar and the rest. These days I don't do anything complicated and I still generally reach for an old version of Sonar, as it's what I started with and still most familiar to me ...

Re: The cold reality of synthesizers

Thanks Folderol. I know Yoshimi has hidden depths and I need to spend more time exploring those. Just reading Gordon Reid's insightful review of the Moog Messenger in the current issue, which addresses the balance between simplicity of UI and sophistication of function. The takeaway is: "You can't ...

Re: The cold reality of synthesizers

...yes, there's a couple of things here: - The number of dimensions of expressive control that the instrument allows. Something like a violin has so many performance possibilities. (Keyboard instruments are trivial; just "hit it and hope". ;) ) - The way in which the instrument reacts. I've always ...

Re: The cold reality of synthesizers

This sounds like quite a narrow view of synthesis. I regularly use a VL70m. It doesn't have any wasp-like characteristics, but it has some beautifully warm sax sounds expertly programmed by Matt Traum.
