Re: Harmonica vid seems somehow treble-eeyer than when I play it

Martin W is the harmonica expert though. I wouldn't say I was an expert, but certainly during the eight years I was writing music with Mitt Gamon I was routinely recording a host of his different harmonicas, both cleanly through a Groove Tubes GT57 large diaphragm condenser or via a Shure Green ...

Re: Best way of stopping (minimizing) sound getting through to neighbours

The other advantage of buying a set of HD650s (or 600s, many people prefer them for mixing as they have a slightly flatter response) is that they will be a permanently useful feature in any future studio set-up you might have. +1 to this advice from Drew, with a slight caveat, also echoing Matt's ...

Re: Power Supply

I have read that this star configuration is best to avoid ground-loops. Now I was wondering if it might make sense to put an uninterruptible power supply/stabilizer upstream of everything. Can this improve the audio quality? Or otherwise reduce any humming by stabilizing the current flow? A UPS won ...

Re: Thoughts on this mix? Cover of "Rikki Don't Lose that Number"

Nicely done lingyai, and there are plenty of plus points, including the vocal arrangement and lots of little guitar touches, but I had to listen hard in places to hear either the drum and bass guitar contributions, while the various keyboards dominated the sound. Overall, I agree with most of the ...

Re: How are my bass traps looking and what shall I fill them with?

Panels are a lot easier to make and hang if they have sides, but cutting out some holes in those will make them a bit more effective. But you don't have to. Commerical bass traps also tend to have holes in their sides to improve performance - here are some Realtraps (I have six of these in my tiny ...

Re: Headphones for music production

Well overall my main problem is I have acoustic foam which definitely dampens the mid and high frequencies but no bass traps. I want some but the doors in the room are right in the corner so putting bass traps in the corners well two of the corners anyway isn't possible. Ironically, having doors ...

Re: AI Music Is Exploding on YT (Probably on the other Streamers)

Hi dubbmann! No, I haven't been aware of any such AI music - if you've still got them, a few links might be useful so we can all examine both the music and the fictitious artist details. It did seem slightly surprising to me that these artist details would be accompanied by a disclaimer, when there ...

Re: Similar Adat Optical interface like rme with good drivers, converters, and pre amps under $600?

In my opinion there is nothing else that competes with the driver quality of RME - but I don't have as extensive experience of alternatives as others round here. One lesson I have learned over the years is "buy once, cry once". If you want RME quality and long term support, save your pennies and ...

Ditto, and if I buy any digital download albums that turn out to be 48 or 96kHz sample rate and 24 or 32-bit, I down convert them to 44.1/16 anyway.

Re: What do we think of this headphone amp with replaceable opamp

The use of output capacitors means that low frequencies are going to be slightly reduced with standard 32 ohm headphones which may be important if you are creating dance music where bass level is important. However, looking at the test results on your very welcome link James, with a 33ohm load the ...

Re: How do you use a copyrighted song as a Reference track?

Hi Johne1, and welcome to the SOS Forums! 8-) Well the simplest answer would be to buy the track in question, either as a digital download or on CD, and then you are perfectly free to use the track/s as you wish for comparison purposes. You could import the track to your choice of DAW, and then ...

Re: What do we think of this headphone amp with replaceable opamp

James is correct - high current capability will allow higher volume with low impedance headphones, but for higher volumes with high impedance headphones you need larger voltage swings.

So, the fact that you can run this headphone amp with higher voltage supplies is more relevant in your case.

Re: rendering at 2048

Good advice there from Moroccomoose. Most DAWs let you check and compensate for the extra latency when incorporating outboard hardware into your setup, but it's always worth checking that it's done it properly, since if not (sometimes audio interface drivers may not declare their latency accurately ...
