Re: Short-scale fretless electric bass
I keep thinking about replacing the strings on my electric bass as I'm still using the ones that came with the kit (apparently they're notoriously poor quality). But as no-one has commented yet they're clearly good enough for my recording purposes so they shall stick around for a while yet. :) I co...

Re: Short-scale fretless electric bass
Well my new set of La Bella bass strings arrived from Bass Direct this afternoon, I fitted them carefully (taking advantage after removing the old strings to rub down the fingerboard and giving it another treatment with Rotosound Lemon Oil), and... ...what can I say, except that they have made this ...

Re: Audio interface with specific features
"Still, not sure converting from RCA to Toslink ever works reliably well." Oh? I used to convert both ways to and from a 2496 card to MDisc and with cheap switch converters. Never had a problem. Dave. Same here, using an M Audio CO2, for loads of files over the years - not even a single c...

Hi jet buckle, and welcome to the SOS Forums!
Yes, I suspect it would, but there's an easy way to find out.
Good luck!

Re: Short-scale fretless electric bass
I ordered the heavier set, as I found the stock strings slightly floppy for my taste (I’m used to quite heavy LaBellas on my main bass). Of course, the new strings now won’t fit the nut slots on the bass, so everything’s on hols until a cheap set of nut files arrive! Ah, that's one reason I ordered...

Re: Short-scale fretless electric bass
I will need to file the nut slots though, they are certainly too high. I shall report back after fitting the new strings if anyone's interested. I got a significantly more playable instrument after deepening my nut slots so that they were all 0.4mm above the neck (about the thickness of a typical b...

Re: Greatest mixes of all time that use no EQ...
And while Aja is a superb recording for the time, it doesn’t stand up against modern recordings that Donald Fagen has made. I find this intriguing, since I love the sound of Steely Dan albums in my collection such as Aja and Royal Scam, yet given all the praise attached to Donald Fagen's 'The Night...
