Re: What can you spot in David Lynch's rack?
Nice 2290 under that Lexicon too, hang on, I’ve got to put my anorak on and get my note book out. Good eye! That is indeed a TC 2290. Wot, no cherry pie? Ha conspicuous in it's absence! Strangely the kitchen is relatively small for such a splendid property. Though of course, very stylish: https:/ ...

Re: What can you spot in David Lynch's rack?
Lots of Tascam DA88's - I doubt anyone uses these anymore? And protools HD192? Yes, perhaps for compatibility with old projects - or he might have stuck with a HD192 system? Good spot on the 1176's  The photos were taken recently for a Zillow listing: https://www.zillow.com/homedetails ...

Re: What can you spot in David Lynch's rack?
I can spot a H3000, Korg Kaoss pad, and some 90s Lexicon rack units.
Though you're quite right the design of the space is the big draw

Re: Best online platforms for storing and sharing electronic music productions?
Bandcamp is popular. Though it is perceived in some circles as tainted by the sale to Epic Games.
Nina (aka NinaProtocol) is a more independent option. I've been finding a lot of exciting new music on Nina.

Re: Weird / Strange Resonances on vocals.
RVox has an exciter in it's signal flow (that you can't switch off). Maybe try switching it out with your DAW's clean compressor, or if you are a WAVES user try C1. Have you overseen all elements of the project? If not, check whether the voice has note been tuned with a digital tool. The voice is ...

NOISE TOOLS: online sound design tools (free resource)
A recent find: NOISE TOOLS by Jackson Palmer. DING creates resonate metallic strikes; TAP fashions gentle percussive taps that are akin to modern UI sounds; and THUD electronic toms & drums: https://tools.ummjackson.com/noise/ Outputs can be exported as .wav files for your favourite sampler. I ...

Re: Where to get Exponential Audio Symphony3D / Stratus3D in 2025?
You can buy them from the KVR Audio Buy and Sell forum. They're typically about GBP 15 - 20 for the pair.

Re: Arturia V collection pricing
299 dollars/euros for a dusting of new models? I like the JP-8000 (I used to love my JP-8080), but I’m not paying that kind of money to possess it, and the rest of the new models are of zero interest to me. Who needs more synths? I had to upgrade from KOMPLETE 10 to 15 earlier in the year to ensure ...

Re: Reflection Filters: sE Electronics and others
A couple of large duvets hung in a V behind and to the sides of the vocalist/reader (ideally with a third behind the mic) will deliver better results. Thanks Hugh. I purchased 3 x IKEA MULIG clothing racks. And formed a triangle around the microphone with them. https://imgur.com/WaIn8HV Then hung ...

Re: Music Matter (Preston) gone?
Another one.
Ultimately it'll be the big brands selling directly from their own websites, plus perhaps having an 'Amazon Store Front' presence to sell smaller consumer style products eg Roland Boutique & music toy items.

Re: Reflection Filters: sE Electronics and others
Thanks for the input. What's your room like, do you have lots of treatment in it?
I've never felt the need for one before and typically surrounded myself with 6 - 8 bass traps when recording vocals:

There's lots of books etc in my normal space too. I miss it!

Reflection Filters: sE Electronics and others
I've currently not got access to my own studio, and wish to make a lot of spoken word recordings. These will likely have to take place in a less than ideal space. I'll be doing the best I can to dampen the space with a duvet behind me ect. I am also thinking about buying a microphone reflection ...

Re: Does the Roland SRV2000 reverb have a modulated reverb tail?
PS, I’ve just read the entire manual for the SRV2000 and no LFO is mentioned for modulation, just the usual EQ, Pre-Delay, rev time parameters etc. You can download the manual from SynthMania. Thanks Arpangel. A friend has offered to take some IRs from his unit for me, however I wanted to double c ...

Re: Ear Defenders
Wonks & Sam, yes and yes absolutely valid points - (& ik I'm a little off topic). But if you're having to wear hearing protection to a listening event it's worth questioning whether something has gone wrong / could be done better. We know from experience that many gigs are simply too loud. For ...

Re: Ear Defenders
To be fair R_A the level on stage can be significantly louder (or quieter) than that in the audience and us musicians and techs may well be exposed for much longer periods and much more frequently than a typical audience member. The 'average' rock concert is apparently 90 - 120 dB. About 14 mins at ...

Re: Ear Defenders
Remember if it's too loud for you. It's also too loud for the audience.
If you need earplugs, so do the audience.
It's a condom on condom situation.
Maybe play softer and bring the sensuality & sensation back.

Re: Any PCM91 users here?
224 was beyond, completely beyond, couldn’t believe I had it, but it was so unreliable as to render it almost useless, the trouble is that it has eight horizontal boards, that aren’t supported in the middle, and the tracks are always breaking, but when it was working, it was pure heaven, and simple ...

Re: I thought that the loudness war was over
There's a great graphic 'out there' somewhere of a Beatles track waveform as originally released, then re released a couple of times every decade or so - and each time becoming more brick like.
