Re: I thought that the loudness war was over
There's a great graphic 'out there' somewhere of a Beatles track waveform as originally released, then re released a couple of times every decade or so - and each time becoming more brick like. Has anyone got an audio file of the original version of Billie Jean? It's my understanding that a 'good ...

Re: Most accurate monitors under £700
We have big ATC SCM100s at the main studio, and they are indeed great. However, at home I have Neumann KH150, and to be honest I don't feel I'm missing out that much... I'm certainly not quite hearing the £13k difference! I might feel different if I compared them side by side in the same room, but ...

Re: Most accurate monitors under £700
Ha Ha! that's like saying a McLaren 750 is just "OK" :) Ha indeed! NS10s, ATCs and an Avantone / Auratone are the ones I run into most frequently and like. I very seldom see PMC monitors & have never been in a room with KH monitors. Sometimes run into Amphion in pop / rock studios + Barefoot ...

Re: Most accurate monitors under £700
NS-10MX + amp Should come in on budget. And is about as far away from being an accurate monitor as you can get. I suppose it really depends on how one defines accurate. I don't reckon it can be beaten at this price point. OP might be interested in: https://dt7v1i9vyp3mf.cloudfront.net/assetlibrary ...

Re: Any PCM91 users here?
What about your Eventide 2016. Surely this is a magnificent room machine?
An old employer had both a PCM91 & PCM90 and used them over many films and high budget TV dramas. Excellent machines.

Re: Does Ludovico Einaudi use Auto-Tune?
I’m wondering what does he use it for. I cannot think of anything the Digico consoles can’t do apart from running Antares Auto-Tune, and I’m thinking he’s using it for the strings. Can I get your guys’ opinions on this? Absolutely not. The string players who get this gig do not need Auto-Tune! Wonks ...

Which recorder: Recording spoken word w external pre-amp & mic
Which recorder would you buy for this scenario: Recording spoken word. Signal chain will be a CAD M179 microphone into a Cranborne Audio Camden EC1 preamp into the recorder. Re: Waves plugins not working in any DAW.
2. Now version 9 plugins such as their Gold bundle, IR1, and the Electric 88, have an inexplicable unreliability. Crashing the host (Reaper), causing the host to become non responsive requiring a "kill" in Task Manager, with a need to restart of the host. This time I am wary about paying them any ...

Re: I discovered Cherry Audio soft synths
I gave their Novachord a demo whirl. Though much preferred Soniccouture's samples over Cherry Audio's modelling. That said, I've heard good things about their other offerings from friends, and would like to add another plugin synth to my tools. At the moment I only use NI Absynth 5 & FM8 ...

Re: 2025 Click + Pop removal question
As I'm only removing very short sections of a few mS, there's no way it will sound swirly. Spleeter (as used in most versions of RX) nulls completely with the original when all the tracks are re-combined. Demucs doesn't always quite null completely but, by manually creating the "other" track, you ...
