An 'outside broadcast vehicle'? Not by my definition!

Sounds about right to me.

Re: Help find source of distortion

With one of my TS310s I got some distortion at one point, so I opened it up (it was 2 years old at this point) and the compression driver was a tiny bit loose from the horn. Literally just screwed it back on and the speaker worked perfectly from then and I've never had another problem. To be ...

Re: Help find source of distortion

You may be hearing physical rattling. Not unheard of in some cabs - especially cheap ones like you have. Can be hard to identify and track down, and not always easily fixable. Don't worry about your level when feeding a PA, any competent engineer should be able to handle pretty much any realistic ...

Re: Do you jump in?

The sound has been excellent at all of their previous gigs I've been to, including some other places that don't have great natural sound. They were having some technical gremlins as well so I don't know if there was some knock on effects but I can't think what. And there's the rub - you don't know ...

Re: Lithium AA’s in radio mics - any thoughts?

Newer kit with its own rechargeables can be great. We have Sennheiser EW-DX, with the custom Li-Ion packs (can use 2xAA in a pinch) where the Tx drop into chargers for storage along with charging. Works an absolute treat.

Re: Do you jump in?

Was tempted* to last night at Public Service Broadcasting. Low mids were swamping everything, so the guitar went too loud to compensate and then the vocals and samples were being lost. And we were right next to the sound desk, my friend in the seating area said it was terrible up there. :( Doesn't ...

Only once. At an Am Dram production where the RF was behaving dreadfully. At half-time, I clocked the pile of receivers at FOH with no antenna distribution, expressed my sympathy with the tech and offered to try and help. Could do no more than reposition stuff more optimally, and suggest that ...

Re: Gain Question on Yamaha TF Series | HELP

Picture failure aside, I do believe the HA Control is on for the TF5, but the console is prone to turning on and off analog gain and phantom power (seemingly randomly) for channels 1-8 regardless of HA being on. I will try turning off HA Control and will reply back once I am able. Thank you ...

Re: Gain Question on Yamaha TF Series | HELP

I'm no TF user, and neither image worked, BTW. But you may benefit from reading p36 of the TF user manual : HA Control button Determines whether the head amp of the Tio1608-D, R series and so on is controlled by the TF series. Turning this button ON and OFF has no effect on the DZR-D series and the ...

Re: In Ear Monitors recommendations please?

If you're happy with the limitations of generic fit IEMs over custom fit IEMs, it's hard to go wrong with KZ ZS Pros. Re: Main lead quality to speakers

So do I, I’m going to risk ridicule (again) by saying it's the only cable that my ears heard a definite "improvement" in sound quality from, I made up a set of leads for my CD player using Klotz cable, I'm not normally into all this malarky, but there was a nice improvement, quite an obvious one. I' ...

Re: Digital mono summing for Subwoofer?

What I noticed was that, when setting the tops volume to unity, I wasn’t able to push them to their maximum because the subwoofer would saturate first (the limiter LED would light up). The root cause of your percieved problem is having insufficient rig for the gig. While the subs and tops in a " ...

Re: Digital mono summing for Subwoofer?

Not sure why you didn't just try it - you know how it would be set up.

One of my frustrations with people in this game is that they don't seem to be interested in learning by experimentation which, as long as you're not doing anything actively dangerous, is the best way to learn through experience.

Re: Basic Live Set Up / Monitoring Question

Your simplest approach to achieve what you're asking for would be to cascade through link outs. So: Stagepass - monitor 1 - monitor 2 - monitor 3 - IEM pack. Use XLR-jack adapters where necessary. But, and there's always a but, it's not an ideal solution. You may well find that the IEM user is not ...

Re: No sound from subwoofer ALTO TS315S

If you really are using a cable with a single XLR to a dual phono, then you're using the wrong cable, which is potentially causing the LR signals to cancel each other out, especially at low frequencies. Assuming your Denon DJ (how much more helpful or would have been if you'd given a precise model ...
