Re: Multitrack location recording rig and redundancy

You might want to checkout Cymatic Audio's utrack24... There are also some of their 16-track machines still around as NOS or secondhand. I had two of these at various times. Fuss-free and work well - although picky about disk drives IME. I did a lot of location multitrack work at one point. Must adm...

Battery-powered Microphones

I have a few of the Audio-Technica capacitor mics which can be powered either by phantom power or single AA battery (ATM10, ATM 8033, MB4K). The MB4K has an on-off switch. I'm pondering if the switch is a power-switch or merely a 'reverse-mute' - ie if the battery is in it's powering the mic irrespe...

Re: Headphone switcher?

To Mark One: Check out 'Fentronix' on eBay. A bit like Orchid Electronics in Exeter, but more basic functions on their products. Fentronix do all sorts of switchers, attenuators etc - all of which they build themselves. You could always contact them to check functionality - esp in the light of what...

Re: Headphone switcher?

These days (probably m'age!) I'm finding a session with pen, paper and a few diagrams helps me work through routing and connection options. :)

Re: Headphone switcher?

Interesting... Just this morning our service leader for today couldn't join us because of COVID in his house, so we rigged up a live feed from him via Zoom and connected that up to the sound system and the 72" video screen. Two laptops: one handling the in-house on screen display and the other ...

Re: One sided waveforms?

Music? Voice? If music which instrument(s)?

An image/screenshot would be useful...

Assymetric waveforms are not at all uncommon and usually nothing to do with DCO... there are regular discussions here - including just last week iirc.

Re: Wiring Dual Female XLR to Single Male XLR for stereo signal

... But isn't wiring 2:1 generally considered a 'bad idea' unless you put in some buffering components to mitigate again against signal creep back into the source device? Yes, but in this case the Behringer PM1's XLR is there to provide a locking connector for a TRS (headphone) output to the PM1's ...

Re: Long cable run for speakers

Hello, And thank you for helping me out here. This is primarily for voice amplification. Not sure why they purchased organ specific amp/speaker combination. To summarize your advice, I should use "brown lamp cable"? Many thanks, Peter 'Brown lamp cable' is almost certainly not what you wa...

Re: Long cable run for speakers

Useful updates one and all... We're now into 'it depends' territory... It depends on the size of the building, whether this is just for amplifying speech, the accustomed volume that the congregation expects, the efficiency of the speakers etc. But as a general observation, in my experience...

Re: About to take the plunge... Livestreaming!

Pending a reply from RGBlink (who asked me a few questions and have now gone very quiet) I have continued experimenting and tweaking. I've been able to livestream successfully using the RGBlink Mini as a single source into OBS and then out thru YouTube. It proved the concept, as the RGBxxx did exact...
