Re: What chord is THIS???
I don't know. I found it strangely difficult to concentrate on the music.

Re: Advice for new room
Thanks all. So I'm looking at monitors either side of the bay window, maybe a little way into the room, with mixing station facing towards the window forming an equilateral triangle with them. As I do everything in the box and "mixing station" basically consists of monitor, keyboard and mo...

Re: Advice for new room
Unless you want the desk to be looking into the room? Which is possible but you will probably need to experiment with position a fair bit. Actually that would be helpful; it's how I work now so that I can play a keyboard (facing others) and also operate recording equipment. I was thinking in terms ...

EDIT: Thanks mods for sorting it out.

Advice for new room
Hi I currently work in an untreated room that sounds horrible (basically the right hand side of the proposed one here). I'm about to knock a wall through to give myself more space, and would like to use the opportunity to give some more attention to the acoustics. It's mostly for rehearsing, jamming...

Re: Scale and chord progression (music theory newbie )
Actually I've just realised it's the first four chords of "House of the Rising Sun", plus a VII at the end linking the VI back to I:
I - III - IV (major) - VI ( - VII)
The Animals key:
Am - C - D - F
I - III - IV (major) - VI ( - VII)
The Animals key:
Am - C - D - F

Re: Scale and chord progression (music theory newbie )
Just at a quick first listen - the piece is clearly in C minor. The last two chords in your progression are only half as long each as the others, so it doesn't arrive on the Bb at the end/beginning of each phrase, it goes Ab - Bb - Cm , the Cm being the point of arrival and clear centre of gravity. ...

Re: New to music theory, am I right?
The question of whether D or G is the tonal centre is simply resolved by (a) what note the melody resolves onto and sounds finished on (and, usually, actually finishes on), and (b) the relationship of the chords to the phrasing. Your ear, sense of melodic impulse and awareness of where phrases are &...

Re: DAW to score? How to get professional musicians to play from MIDI performance instead of the chart?
I have always thought of the song as the final thing - the focus of the artistic effort - the end. That's the key point right there that defines the difference between the ethos of popular music (in the broadest sense - ie jazz, pop, rock, EDM etc.) and that of classical music. In classical music, ...

Re: New to music theory, am I right?
The first thing the OP mentioned was the "tonal centre of D" so it's clear that he's hearing the song based around that. As such, D mixolydian is an accurate description. It's worth noting that this set of chords - I, IV and bVII (here D, G and C) is extremely common. EG Norwegian Wood or ...

Re: Nord, any (trusted) insight on feature to cost ratio?
I was impressed by both. It will come down to sound, the value or otherwise of the differing feature set and whether I’m willing to pay a premium for the Nord. What it wont come down to is the key bed. They were different but both an upgrade from what I’m used to. Agreed, the actions on both those ...
