Re: Mounting a keyboard on the edge of a shelf
I have to say this idea is something I'd be interested in, and I have been considering a 3D printer of late. More and more I'm finding situations where one would be a useful asset... Yeah it seems like a 'thing' that isn't but should be. I like the possibilty of it being removable, hence not ...

Thanks Drew, that looks good
Yeah I wondered if with my design the downward force ultimately brings the keyboard forwards

Re: Mounting a keyboard on the edge of a shelf
I'm wondering whether something like this might work. Obvioulsy the drawing's quite crude and not to scale. There'd be two such mounts and the weight of the keyboard itself would secure them and rubber pads between the mounts and the desk would prevent slipping and protect the wood. Am I missing ...

Re: Mounting a keyboard on the edge of a shelf
It looks like you’re going to have to get some mdf cut at B&Q to make a shelf using wood glue that slots under the furniture top shelf with sides that you’ll have to cut the angled slope. I would suggest giving it a back section for support and structure and cut out a hole at the base if needed for ...

Mounting a keyboard on the edge of a shelf
Any thoughts on a mount or bracket that gets me from picture one to picture two/three? Minus the pillow, obviously! Bit crap at DIY so it should not be made by my clumsy hands, the desk is a nice piece of furniture so it shouldn't gouge great troughs out of it, and the keyboard can't rest on the ...

Re: Question about ADAT I/O features of SSL18
Sam Inglis wrote: ↑Sat Feb 15, 2025 4:47 pm The manual states that the 18 can be used as an ADAT expander, so yes that should work.
Ah amazing thanks Sam. I did embark upon a thorough read of the manual but either missed that or didn’t get that far yet!

Re: Question about ADAT I/O features of SSL18
Let me see if I understand this right... you want the 18 to be simultaneously an ADAT expander for Push and also an audio interface for your computer? I think that ought to work, but it's bending my brain a bit. Would it not be simpler to think of the Push as being an ADAT expander for the 18 in ...

Re: Slate VSX Headphone Studio Simulators
Impressive though they are, given there are a fixed number of listening environments modelled, is there a danger that these systems become somewhat reductive or homogenising? Are they the quantisation or autotune of mixing? Have the limitations, shortcomings, failings of many mixing locations over ...

Question about ADAT I/O features of SSL18
The new SSL18 has 16 channels of ADAT I/O. I understand that an expander such as SSL's own Alpha 8 is necessary to give physical inputs and outputs to those channels but if connected to another ADAT device with ADAT I/O, will the SSL18 'see' them and allow their routing within SSL's 360 software ...

Re: Techno production. Acoustic room treatment or a sub? Which would you prioritise?
To be a Master of a specific genre in 12 months (as in sounding as technically/musically/stylistically as good as major artists in the genre, cause that is what mastering a genre is.) is unlikely even in a well trated room and top grade monitoring. Lol. Well of course it is. I was being playful. I ...

Re: Techno production. Acoustic room treatment or a sub? Which would you prioritise?
Yes I think both are ultimately necessary, and I guess they're actually different solutions to different problems, but I'm wondering which to do first as the cost will have to be staggered over some months. Headphones is a good point. Are there headphones that reproduce sub frequencies in a ...

Techno production. Acoustic room treatment or a sub? Which would you prioritise?
I've committed to taking a deep dive into techno production this year with an aim to mastering it, or at least as much as you can in twelve months. As genres go it was always one of my first loves. I'm happy with my monitors (Genelec 8330As) which I know well and I'm satisfied enough with my mixes ...

Level matching a bunch of disparate samples. Best approach?
Hi A friend wants me to use Push standalone to trigger some samples for his live set. The samples are a mixture of ambient textures, spoken word, and sound fx. There's not really any 'musical' content. When we had a rehearsal we had a huge problem with levels. What's the best approach to matching ...

Thoughts on using a band name already taken
Hello Myself and some friends have got a set's worth of songs together and now we're looking for some local gigs. We've had a working name for the band that we like and it has kind of stuck. It suits the music too. We Googled and the name's been used elsewhere in the world but not locally or even in ...

Re: Hardware vocal chain
there must be a lot of people who want a good vocal recording without thinking about any of that, and they want a box with buttons on it to do it. It's the 'without thinking' that's troubling me here. Generally, whatever box(es) of tricks you have, you need to experiment and think in the first ...

Re: Hardware vocal chain
There are many devices that combine a preamp with EQ and dynamics processing. You won't find them with reverb since you should never bake it in to a recording, but adjust it later as part of the mixing process. You might start with the information from SOS HERE . Thanks. Yeah, I think me thinking ...

Re: Hardware vocal chain
Hmm
Sometimes asking a question clarifies your thoughts!
'Channel strip' IS the product category, isn't it?
I've been Googling and not necessarily seeing ones dedicated to vocals, not seeing any reverb.
I guess reverb is a whole other discipline (vocals or otherwise).

Hardware vocal chain
Hello I'm guessing such a product exists but I don't really know how to describe it. An all-in-one hardware vocal chain? A kind of idiot-proof "if you sing into me sweetly at one end, I'll give you nice results at the other" kind of a deal. Most of my music is instrumental so vocals isn't something ...

Have Ableton borked the release of Push 3?
So I thought I'd come here for some sanity because in certain corners of the interwebs (including Ableton's own forum) people are losing their shiz over Push 3 being 'riddled with bugs', 'rushed to market', 'unuseable', 'an alpha release at best', 'poorly manufactured with countless hardware issues ...
