This is Orbital’s guy. Not as pricy as you might think given the work involved. Great to work with.

That clears that up then
This forum is great, look at all the good quality information I got. Thank you all!

Re: Distorted telephone conversation
Try Adobe Enhance Speech V2 . I recently used it for a similar issue. Before processing, the other side was inaudible above the noise. After processing, it did not sound nice but you could clearly hear all that was said. I also used it on a reasonably audible phone conversation. After processing, it ...

Ok. Is it ADAT that has to have WC to be bidirectional?

Re: How do I connect the TC Electronic Finalizer 96k to the Focusrite 18i8?
Maybe I am confused... but only one device can be the master clock, right? My understanding is you normally can't have digital in and out simultaneously with spdif. I think what Hugh is describing is a feature of the TC, that it can get a clock from spdif while still outputting an externally clocked ...

Re: How do I connect the TC Electronic Finalizer 96k to the Focusrite 18i8?
No separate word clicking necessary if using the S/PDIF input to the Finaliser as that interface is self-clocking. So Focurite S/PDIF out to TC S/PDIF in. Set the TC to clock from its digital in. TC S/PDIF out to Focusrite S/PDIF in. Set Focusrite as clock master (computer). That's a neat feature ...

Re: Does anyone know how to use a pedal to control the mid-EQ assign knob of a Roland Juno DS-88?
You are right it appears it cannot be done. Mid EQ is not listed as a destination for pedal control in the Parameter Guide . However you can assign aftertouch to be controlled by the pedal, and aftertouch can control an MFX parameter, so maybe you could get it done that way? Would seem to require ...

BNC to RCA 75ohm cable also needed for wordclock sync if you are to use any of the digital audio interface options including SPDIF i/o.

Re: Is it dangerous to mix a Yamaha FC9 expression Pedal with a Roland Juno DS-88 synth?
The FC9 manual is fairly clear. You definitely should not be using the battery powered or any mains adapter powered functionality with the Roland expression pedal input. Really bad. Do not do that. The powered function is when you wire it in series with the line output of the synth. NOT for the ...

Re: Sustain problem
Agreed. RTFM
The switching pedals I mentioned are just as solidly built as the Roland. The extra cost of the Roland is in making it both solid and continuous.

Re: Most accurate monitors under £700
[ I can't have free standing panels I haven't got the space because there's a door right in two corners of the room. I realise you can’t fix to doors in rental accommodation, but sometimes there’s sufficient gap above the door to insert a couple of brackets from which you can hang stuff, perhaps sec ...

Re: Sustain problem
It depends on if you want switched (TS jack) or continuous (TRS) control. The Yamaha and the Roland are electrically identical so you may have the same problem with both. Although the Roland lets you select Switched mode or Continuous. Total waste of that pedal to use it in switched mode. A cheaper ...

Re: Most accurate monitors under £700
Hanging panels would be mechanically the same as hanging pictures. At least in this country, there is no regulation or standard tenancy agreement where a landlord cannot allow that. Perhaps it is different in the UK? It’s a very easy DIY job to make the screw holes invisible if you are moving out.

Re: Drum tuner VST
That is funny alright. Classic visual bias, kudos for being aware of it and getting around it. See my earlier point about cognitive bias and the pitch dial. I've tried Mododrum, I think it's not as great as it appears. You don't actually have that much control over the drum parameters, and it seems ...

Re: Drum tuner VST
They are samples, so like any sampler, you can raise and lower the pitch. And like any sampler, it only works well over a small pitch range. I’ve only ever nudged a drum pitch up or down slightly, as any more just sounds wrong. Better to pick a different size drum from the kit selection. This is an ...

Re: Most accurate monitors under £700
It still is difficult to categorically suggest what the most accurate monitors for the budget are. Flat ? Time domain ? Not sure if that is a question or a statement, but since you quoted me I will respond. Yes it is, for the reasons you've outlined. I think the OP's caveat was sensible. From my ...

Re: Most accurate monitors under £700
Just doing whatever you can fit in to the space will help. Simple rigid rockwool panels. I have one corner not treated here because of the door* but I do have a ceiling cloud and the bicorners are covered. It is a vast improvement. Well worth doing. You can always do more later. *Actually I have a ...

Re: Drum tuner VST
I I believe I’ve explained why already. But in a nutshell- A tuner is not perception. Your perception of the so-called pitch will be different to someone else’s. Perception is affected by cognitive bias, such as assumptions. Also it’s not that “I don’t want people to do it” that’s hilarious. I’m tryi ...

Re: Drum tuner VST
Linking to another person who is relying on their perception and not physics is missing the point. I’ve already explained I think, why a tuner is misleading. I’m not sure it’s understood what the fundamental difference is between perception and reality. If you listen without music going on you shoul ...

Re: Drum tuner VST
While that is truly what we percieve, it is not correct in terms of physics. If you look at the harmonics of a tom or kick on a spectrum analyzer you will see what is actually happening. The higher modes decay faster than the lower ones but their frequency remains steady. The brain merges these ...

Re: drum tuner vst
The podcast won't help the OP, since they are using samples not trying to tune real drums. The problem is the definition of pitch. It's not real as such, it is perceived. I am familiar with Rob Toulson's work. I don't think he is clear about what pitch is. I don't recall him ever addressing the ...

Re: Compressor settings for INXS guitar sound
The two mics on the amp are summed to mono, it’s not XY it’s a V arrangement. To my ears there is some kind of dynamic interplay between the guitar and the drum machine. The drum machine is compressed and the guitar seems like its compressor is being pumped slightly by it via a key signal. Also as ha ...

Re: drum tuner vst
I think a lot of people would disagree that you can't tune a drum to a particular note (at least the initial hit). I've done it myself, so it can be done. Certainly with more electronic drum sounds, tuning them to the song is common Yes I think they would disagree too. I believe that is because ...
