I don't want a Plex server or anything like that just that. I want a stand alone music player that just plays music. I don't really need it to do anything else.
As a matter of interest, how was your Pi4 experience? Was it time consuming? Was it what you expected?

Raspberry Pi (4 or 5) as a music player - Any thoughts?
I'm thinking of building a dedicated music player and am looking at the Raspberry Pi. Al the machine will be doing is acting as a controller to read Flac files from the USB drive and send them to a hi end DAC, perhaps an RME. The analogue output of the DAC will then be sent to the Preamp. The R Pi w...

Re: Voice distortion software
thanks for that. I assume that there is no way to reverse engineer the distorted voice. To prevent this I suppose we need some kind of random noise added so that it would be impossible to reverse engineer.
Am I right?

I'm doing an interview with someone who needs to disguise their voice for legal reasons.
Any software apps that I can use for this purpose?
Many thanks

Re: Problems accessing old internal Hard drive
It is a back up drive, so it contains back ups of files.
The SATA to USB adapter has an external power connector as well, that connects to the mains.
I will try connecting to the mobo directly again.

Re: Setting up PianoTeq8 ASIO Driver issues.
Happy New Year everyone. Just a quick update on this matter. I seem to have fixed the issue by buying a new Midi to USB interface. I went for the one made by ESI. It looks the same as the other one I had but I suppose the electronics in it are more reliable and actually do what they are supposed to ...

Re: Setting up PianoTeq8 ASIO Driver issues.
James, I did just re install the Juli@ drivers. That seems to have reduced the issue with the USB - MIDI interface but not completely eliminated it.
I still can't seem to get anything from the midi connections into the Juli@.
Do I need to install specific Midi drivers for the Juli@?
Many thanks.

Re: Setting up PianoTeq8 ASIO Driver issues.
Dave, I see two se ct ions in Active MIDI inputs: Listen to MIDI inputs & USB 2.0-MIDI. Both of these are ticked. The Audio Device type is ASIO and the device is ASIO 2.0 - ESI Juil@ with both 1/2L and 1/2R ticked as the output channels. I get the thing working if I use the USB - MIDI interface ...

Re: Setting up PianoTeq8 ASIO Driver issues.
James, I looked in Device Manager and did not see any Midi devices.
I can see them if I use the USB interface but not if I only use the midi cables connected to the ESI Juli@ directly.
I have installed Midi OX but I need to go through the manual to figure how to use it!!!

Re: Setting up PianoTeq8 ASIO Driver issues.
Ok, So I bought another USB- Midi interface and that did not even work, let alone work badly. I have also dug out my midi cables and ESI Juli@ midi interface connector and connected the midi cables directly into the ESI Juli@ card. And Nothing. Not a sound. So what on earth am I doing wrong here? An...

Setting up PianoTeq8 ASIO Driver issues.
So I bought Pianoteq 7 (now upgraded to 8) and I am having constant issues with sticking notes, repeated notes, notes not playing. I often have to unplug my usb to midi cable and plug it back in. Sometimes this solves the issues. I have an ESI Juli@ sound card, so in the options I a using the ASIO 2...

Computer Randomly switches itself on...
As some of you may know I had some issues with my PC not being able to start or with it randomly switching itself off, as in someone just pulled the power chord out. I changed the Mobo, the CP, added new RAM and the issue still occurred. So now I have installed a new PSU. Its also more powerful than...

Re: Focusrite Solo, 212 or 4i4?
Thanks for this everyone. It is much appreciated. I think that the best solution will be the 212 in this case. 4i4 is definitely overkill for this situation.
I have a Solo that is great for my needs though.

Focusrite Solo, 212 or 4i4?
quick question; can all the above DACs be used to record one stereo input for tapes? I have a friend who wants to convert his cassette tapes to digital and I suggested one of the above. I have a Scarlett Solo but I only use that for playback. I assume that any of the above will do the job. Many than...

Re: How do I set up Kontact 7 with Embertones?
I've managed to get it working in the end. It was selecting the midi channel that I needed. I must admit though that my initial impressions of the Embertones Mega set are not great. I compared to the Pianoteq samples and the later just seems richer. So I might just ask for a refund from Embertones a...
