Looks interesting! I guessed the price would be about £2K - it’s slightly less than that.
I think the market is likely to be small, as per EWIs and guitar synths, but who knows? I’m sure Roland have done their sums. And probably used AI to speed up the design process enough to make it economic.

Re: Faith in Absurdity
Good luck Adrian. It’s an appropriate name for our times. Well, thanks very much Rich. I appreciate it. The notion came from reading about Stoicism and Absurdism. The process went like this; producing music starts out with a low absurdity 'coefficient', but it's inherent absurdity increases over t ...

Re: Good to see a K-Pop article SOS
I just had a listen to some Malmsteen stuff. I thought it was fun. I don't think he takes himself too seriously (judged just by the music).
But his strength is also his limitation IMO - superfast runs have their place, but perhaps not all the time!

Re: Good to see a K-Pop article SOS
because if we hadn't had Malmsteen then, then we wouldn't have this now: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RaSaZItCRFA And the world of guitar playing would be far better for it. That's a typical display of emotionless narcissism that is taught in expensive "guitar academies". One day he might grow ...

Re: The inevitable Mac OS Tahoe 26 thread
I'd like to go for it, but I couldn't use Cubase, a lot of my sample libraries and synths at the moment.
I think it could be a few months before I take the plunge, possibly more.

Re: What can you spot in David Lynch's rack?
Lots of Tascam DA88's - I doubt anyone uses these anymore? And protools HD192? Yes, perhaps for compatibility with old projects - or he might have stuck with a HD192 system? Good spot on the 1176's  The photos were taken recently for a Zillow listing: https://www.zillow.com/homedetails ...

Re: Mixer, running out of inputs
I remember an article written by a mathematician who said his first question when he was trying to solve a problem was to ask himself ‘do we really need to do this?’ I don’t know how that might look in your case Tony, but there might be some mileage in it. One thought I have is - could some of your p ...

Re: Another mic comparison!
I have no idea what the mics are but my preference, for what it's worth, is A > C > B.
The sound of A is lovely. The others don't reach that level (for me).

Re: Miking a digital piano vs miking a bass amp
Just to add - I would be very surprised if the line out from your Roland piano really is 'thin'. This is an expensive digital piano from a good manufacturer. It may be that the room is adding some 'good' colour to the sound. Or, as James says, the monitoring you are using to listen to the line outs ...

Re: Logic just for a change
My feeling about DAWs is - use the one you know best. Each DAW has its own language, and the best place to be is where you understand that language intuitively and the DAW becomes invisible.
They are all pretty good these days. I'd suggest using the one you know best, Tony.

Re: Re-treating room for classical piano recording
I think the comparison to make is not the line out sound vs what you hear in the room, but rather the line out sound vs what you can record of the sound in the room. What you hear and what you record will never be the same, even with the best microphones and good mic technique. If you have a USB ...

Re: Re-treating room for classical piano recording
You might be able to make things even better by recording directly to a USB stick entered into the piano - I'm not sure, but it's possible that the piano writes the digital audio directly to the USB without going through any converters. As Hugh and James have said - don't record with mics! If you ...

Just another data point. Also on BT. Unusably slow this afternoon. Turned off ipv6 on the router. All working fine. I had also had problems with some other sites and they have sped up too. Looks like BTs IPv6 support is broken. Same for me. EE broadband (migrated from BT) but still with BT router ...

Re: Fresh ears wanted! (Feedback on track welcome)
The latest version (especially the string section) sounds a bit like a George Benson-type groove, and if that's what your after, I can suggest a few changes. The bass is too quantised and even, and repetitive, it needs some life. If you're deliberately wanting an AI-type vocal, fair enough, but ...

Re: The cold reality of synthesizers
One thing about synthesizers is that they belong to an era. A few years after they are released, they stop being made. They may re-appear as software recreations later on, but there's no guarantee that these will run at any point in the future. So, that's great for making music at a given time, but ...

Re: Please critique this mix/master for my cover of this song
Good point James about the acoustic guitar. A better VST would help, but it's not that easy to play a guitar via keyboard and have it actually sound like a guitar. You could try a demo version of a good VST and see if that makes a difference. If you play a little more legato that would help, and ...

Re: Please critique this mix/master for my cover of this song
There are quite a few reasons the mix might be cloudy. Things you can look at are: Applying EQ to reduce the amount instruments overlap in the same frequency bands. Reducing the amount of effects processing. As well as reducing the stereo width of individual instruments as already mentioned by ...

Re: Please critique this mix/master for my cover of this song
A nice sound and a nice arrangement! I think with a little work you can get it up to a completely professional level. Some comments. The bass drum is a little flabby and too loud. The mix as a whole is a little cloudy. The acoustic guitar tone is poor - not sufficient 'body' and it sounds 'phasey ...
