Re: 13 year old distressor pair safe to buy

I've got an Aphex 109 eq that only decided to start working properly after 18 years :headbang:

Only another 5 years and those Distressors should really start to come into their own

Re: PreSonus pocket interface

If you were just reducing the level on the keyboard then you will still hear the noise of the keyboard's circuitry that comes after the level control. You need to use a proper attenuator like the ones from Fentronix https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/185236529888 or Pink Noise https://www.pinknoise-systems...

Re: PreSonus pocket interface

Looks good... and I might have been interested as I've been unsuccessfully been trying to get an external mic (or line) signal into a Lightning-only iPhone... ... but then I discovered this... https://rode.com/en/interfaces-and-mixers/ai-series/ai-micro ... of course, line-ins will need some form o...

Re: SSL SiX

That's enormously generous of you Hugh. I'm currently in Shrewsbury, Shropshire.

Perhaps my Korg 700FS whose triangle wave + resonant HPF makes for some very satisfying upright bass-esque patches could provide an appropriate source? :) In fact I shall test that keyboard's headphone amp this evening.

Re: SSL SiX

Bit of a thread necro but I haven't been able to find many opinions on the headphone amp of this board. I have a pair of DT880 Pro which I've always found to be chronically short on bass. I went for the 250 ohm version as that seemed like the nice balance but as far as my studio equipment goes I've ...

Re: Frequency, and pitch shifting?

Actually, I don't think I've ever paid for a TV licence :? And perhaps lets not go there :shh: Actually I feel out of respect I must go there and qualify that statement by mentioning I haven't owned a TV in 20 years neither a house of my own that doesn't have a TV licence already in place. But I de...

Re: Frequency, and pitch shifting?

Side note: Back in the late 70s and 80s it was common practice to use a frequency shifter to improve the gain-before-feedback in (mostly spoken voice) PA systems. Typically, a 5Hz shift was used, which had little impact on the audio quality but improved G-before-F by 6-10dB... and when feedback was...

Re: Mackie VLZ4 60mm faders

I should've mentioned I'm looking at the Mackie 2404 VLZ4 and I suppose the A&H ZED 428 although checking it again now the A&H 428 doesn't have any FX which no doubt would come in useful. Split desks look v cool but I'm not sure I'd exactly gain much by working in that way in a leccytronic m...

Mackie VLZ4 60mm faders

I used to have a Mackie CR1604 and as good as it was I never got on with the short faders. To the point where I actually prefer the pots on my current 1202 VLZ. Both mixers were well used by the time I bought them and had/have really annoying dicky channels so I'm planning on upgrading to a bigger f...

Re: Analogue/Digital hybrid studio equipment

That’s the type of thing I was thinking of, nice one.

Does not sound bad from the two YTs I just listened to. One to keep an eye out for but vintage guitar pedal prices being what they are I don’t think any eBay auctions will be too cheap.

Just reading more about CMOS now

Re: Analogue/Digital hybrid studio equipment

Here's one; the PT2399 chip which features a digital delay but is often used with the feedback going through analogue filtering. Also the Spin FV-1 which is a DSP reverb chip that was designed to be used by analogue circuit designers so that features in some hybrid designs I believe. Interesting stu...
