Re: Which organs were used in these vintage recordings?...

Cool article on the Hammond:
https://www.soundonsound.com/people/history-hammond

I used to use Hammonds in dem days but I did stumble upon a clonish type of company - Voce, and I decided to buy their V4 which turned out to be quite usable.

Re: AI Search Engine's responses are often confidently wrong

Does anyone know how to turn off the AI summary nonsense when searching on Google? I dont want or need that waste of electricity giving me mindless Web scrapings. I was happy with a simple list of broadly relevant sites from which I can choose the more intelligent options. That Gemini nonsense, on ...

Sonivox.....sigh

I get the following when I hit their site:

I believe they have called it a day, but short of being epically wrong, can someone verify if this is the case?

Re: Realistic Guitar VSTs for keyboard DAW play

Alex baby, give the collab forums a hit. Loads of shredders there that will drop a riff for you for. Thanks, Zuke! That will save time for sure ... I'll consider that further! :) :) Offer them some spandex leotards and they'll do anything. Amazon has a good deal on several styles that are popular ...

Used. One less-than-careful owner... how much are you hoping to raise, exactly?

Not sure what the going rate is for a used Armenian lung.

I'll get back to you.

Re: Mic recommendation for recording Himalayan and Crystal bowls.

ManFromGlass wrote: Mon May 12, 2025 1:27 pm Unless the crystal bowls are really really large there won’t be a lot of bottom end..
Just re-read the original post - some must be large to hit those notes.
A bit of jealousy here!

It's mainly for the first octave of the Himalayan bowls she has.

Re: Mic recommendation for recording Himalayan and Crystal bowls.

Thanks for the detailed response Hugh. We looked at Soyus 013 which a bowl recording engineer she follows recommended it. We also eyed the MKH8020, which looked good on spec but I have no experience with them. AT4022 looked ok and the NT55s seemed to be useful, the AT5045 but I wasn't convinced as ...

Mic recommendation for recording Himalayan and Crystal bowls.

I have a student who has a variety of crystal and Himalayan bowls. She currently has a Rode NT2A for recording but wants a better combo setup to capture the detail and low end (some of her Himalayan bowls are C1, F1 etc..) of the bowls. I think a combo of omni plus cardioid would be great but I am ...

Re: The next step in recording/composing at home..

DAWs are very personal. Download the trials and spin them and see which grabs you. Alternatively, I have a few students who are strict hardware advocates and don't want to go down the mouse click route. Great hardware options out there as well if that's what floats your boat. If you need someone to ...
