Re: More i/o needed for synths

Although you seem to dismiss it, a patchbay is probably the simplest and cheapest option. Have everything connected (well up to 24 inputs on most!) and you can have any 8 at a time going into the Scarlett. I doubt you’ll ever really need to record more than 8 at any one time. Failing that a cheap A ...

Re: Logic Pro 11 Announced

Free is commendable but not unexpected seeing as all the incremental and major changes have been free as well. In the years I’ve been running Logic 10 I’ve probably paid £100’s going from Cubase 7 to 13. (I stupidly updated from 12 to 13 when the update was on sale for a ‘mere’ £56!). I should have j ...

Re: Keys behaviour

Thomann are selling the Akai MPK261 for about half price @£259.....mono aftertouch but aftertouch of any favour not so common at this price.

(EDIT - seems such a decent deal I just bought one myself!)

Re: Keys behaviour

The Korg Keystage controller uses the ASM Hydrasynth poly AT keybed - if you look carefully it says Polytouch just above the right side of the keyboard.

Free ADB MOTU Midi Interface

Hi all
Having a clear out and have some ADB stuff that’s been in my ‘just in case box’ for many years! ADB MOTU Midi Interface, ADB coiled extender lead and 2 x ADB Mice. Not tested but working last time they were used.

Free to good home - drop me a PM. items in Liverpool but can post.

Re: Small footprint mixer with maximum number of inputs.

I think you can buy the APB stuff new from their euro distributor - Pro Audio Technik. I swapped emails with them last year about buying one of their rack mixers direct. Their 1U rack mixers may be a good submixer option as all channels have mutes and they are well made so cross talk/bleed should be ...

Re: Small footprint mixer with maximum number of inputs.

Might be too expensive but Speck Electronics Xtramix?

http://www.speck.com/xtramix6/xtramix_x6.html

Otherwise just use a patchbay. Surely you don’t need all of the inputs ‘live’ at once?

Presonus Studio One uses the VST3 format on Macs...Not sure there is a free version but Artist is cheap and/or bundled with interfaces/hardware.

Re: Cassette digitisation service recommendations

When I had to do something similar last year (1980’s family cassette digitising), I just bought a cassette to MP3 gadget from Amazon - £15. Simple and even crappy conversion has better than the sound from my WH Smith C60! (and it actually wasn’t that crappy). It was this one: https://www.amazon.co.uk ...

Hammerfall?

Sound-Generation have one for sale with the cardbus adaptor but pretty sure these also connected other adapters including the PCI card which I think you are saying is present?

Re: Logic Pro better than . . .?

One area in which Logic is way better than most is that the upgrades are free. Since I upgraded from Logic 9 to 10 in 2013 I haven’t paid anything for the constant updates - some significant. On the other hand my journey from Cubase 7 to 12 has cost me £100’s! Even if they eventually charge for a fut ...

Not read the whole thread so sorry if this is duplicated but don’t forget that ‘class compliant’ Firewire interfaces will no longer work with OS Ventura onwards. Re: Which budget USB stereo audio interface?

I’m sure they will all be fine but Motu M2 might be worth a look at the higher end of the budget range. Had the M4 and very impressed. Also had a super cheap Presonus Audiobox USB96 for my son and it was really good! Midi was proper 5 pin DIN as well. Headphone out seemed fine to me.

Re: Thunderbolt Monitor question

I thought thunderbolt was backwards compatible with display port and shared the mini display port form factor? Certainly connected a Mini DisplayPort lead to thunderbolt in the past. Not sure it carried over to TB3 but 99.9% sure it worked on TB1 and 2.
