Re: I've been struggling with mouth noises and wondering if there's a solution...?

This is something I usually do my best to minimise while recording if I can, and have found that sipping water with a bit of powdered Vitamin C in it works particularly well.

Re: One Synth Challenge 2024

Well I have to admit to being amazed by Generation X, not only an unexpected entry by Mike Senior, but also using the Yamaha QY700 !!!!! And I lurve it 8-) Thanks Martin! Re: Does this kind of product exist?

A very quick search brings up the ART My Monitor 2 https://www.scan.co.uk/products/art-mymonitorii-personal-monitoring-solution-mic-line-mixer Hah! The SOS networked brain does it again! That looks like exactly what I was imagining. And, wouldn't you know it, Christmas is just round the corner too ...

Does this kind of product exist?

Hello all, I'm not tremendously well-educated when it comes to live-sound tech, and I've struck out finding an answer to this question on my own, so I figured some of you fine people might be able to bring some specialist knowledge to bear! The question is this: Does the following product actually ...

Re: Zynaptiq Intensity

Is it still the best thing since sliced bread?. Er, well I checked it out for my most recent Cambridge-MT podcast and I honestly think they're having a larf. 380 euros?! Personally, I got comparably useful results with a parallel instance of ReaXcomp. Still, each to their own... Hi Mike! What ...

Re: Neumann KH-series vs. Abacus C-series grudge match?!

For room reasons the Kali In-Unf ultra nearfield with desktop Bass unit is on my radar. https://www.soundonsound.com/reviews/kali-audio-in-unf Looks like a very convenient package. I noticed that Paul White mentioned some bass overhang in his review, though, which would concern me a little for ...

Re: Neumann KH-series vs. Abacus C-series grudge match?!

Yeeeeah. My query should really been just for the C-Box4 without the sub C-Bass10. Even then, I'm afraid it's still what Hugh said: the room's an important factor whether you're monitoring quiet or loud. And in condensing my 20-minute review down to 100 words, you've inevitably left a little nuance ...

Re: Neumann KH-series vs. Abacus C-series grudge match?!

He's saying they sound as good (albeit different) and cost the same. So they are an alternative, rather than better. But not easily available in the UK at present. I don't think there's any benefit to (ex)changing an existing KH system for a C system, and since it's difficult to buy in the the UK ...

Re: Neumann KH-series vs. Abacus C-series grudge match?!

Do Abacus actually have a UK distributor? It doesn't look like it. They currently sell direct to dealerships in Germany. But I'd personally pay for shipping of the C-Box 4s from them if I were shopping for a sub-1.5k full-range mixing system for a small studio (they're priced at 1.3k Euros) -- I ...

Neumann KH-series vs. Abacus C-series grudge match?!

Hi all, Over the past few years I've been carefully following the parallel development of the project-studio 2.1 monitoring systems from Neumann (ie. KH80 / KH120 satellites with KH750 subwoofer) and Abacus Electronics (ie. C-Box3 / C-Box4 satellites with C-Bass10 subwoofer) -- and it's proving to ...

Re: Plug ins - there must be a general principle at work here!

Funny for me reading this thread, because I've been rendering my mixes in real time for years on account of previous experiences I've had like this. That said, it's partly because I still use a lot of freeware, and some rather old freeware too, where there isn't any support as such. Hence why I ...

Re: What's with the foam windshield indoors? (Location sound for film and TV)

Other valid reasons for using a foam windshield indoors may include: 1. The foam has a white tip to aid the camera operator spotting when its in frame. 2. Other mobile indoor scenes filmed as part of the shoot needed the windshield, so it was retained in static situations to maintain tonal ...

Re: Fixing harsh harmonics from female vocalists

Thanks for the replies and I will probably not use that mic at the studio again but what can I do about it? It's the only part of the song that does this. There is something you can do about it, but it's usually quite finicky, whichever way you do it. Basically, the problem is usually sporadic ...
