Re: Arturia Update

Well I did it eventually. I’m not convinced the preference to install on an external disk in ASC helped matters. So a very manual deletion of all Arturia components including ASC and reinstalled to local disk managed it. Not great but everything now works including all presets. Although my presets a ...

Re: Arturia Update

Done a complete uninstall and reinstall via ASC and still no good. Grrr. Has anyone managed it or do I have to just buy version 11!

Re: Arturia Update

I am on V Collection 10 at the moment and was offered an update for all the instruments which has caused presets to be lost and blank screens when loading instruments. Yes same here from v collection 9. What a pain. My installs are on external SSD which I think is not helping. Those that filled an ...

Re: Your favourite synth filters?

The one I use as my reference, my yardstick, is the Moog ladder in the Minimoog. I like creamy sounding, gentle and “musical” behavior. I didn’t like the MS20 by way of example too strident, still don’t but did like the Hydrasynth digital emulations. I like messing with the Kronos digital filters whi ...

Re: Dongleless iLok Question

Assuming that you're only working on one at a time, this is what iLok Cloud should allow you to do. Install on all 6 machines, sign in and sign out when you're using a machine to activate. How well it actually works I don't know... I can say it works fairly well. A pop up asks if you want to ...

That’s a good service Eddy and worth mentioning these days  . Being a little bit curious is this your first Mac or are you just updating an existing studio machine?

Cheers

Re: UJAM Sparkle 2 free...

Well I’ve just installed it and I had an invoice that says I purchased it for 0, nothing about time limit. The app you download to access the UJAM samples does allow free trials of other non purchased instruments. Maybe that’s the confusion?

I rate Arturia Pigments

I really rate Arturia Pigments. It’s a great synth for sound design and covers many basses ( ;) ). Sample, wave table, analogue and recently harmonic, it does it all. Added to which the Arturia FX are first class. I’ve started using it a lot recently and it is hugely capable. I kinda think if you can ...

Re: Viewing monitors connected to a Mac Studio before purchace.

I was in your position and in the end did go for the Studio display. It’s over expensive for sure, but it works perfectly, has a beautiful display to stare at for hours and great connectivity. Interestingly it’s own speakers are quite good for doing mix tests! I read that some are going for an LG opt ...

Re: Machina Bristronica 2025

Paul, thank you for that very reasonable explanation and the continued support SOS has to Synthfest. I’ve enjoyed synthfest, I might miss the Bristol event, but I’m assuming the team will do the excellent videos for us to catch up on? I did wonder why Synthfest wasn’t running this year, I was half af ...

Re: Baby's first synth...

Behringer PRO 800?

Yep that's a good starter Id say.

Go grab yourself a Roland System-8. Don't look back. In that order.

Yes a fine instrument but its still quite pricey for a newbie!

Re: Headphones, planar vs alternatives etc.

Well as a true amateur I have a number of options. I use my KRK 8400 almost exclusively to track and increasingly to master. I have some AKG (too uncomfortable) some HD 650 very neutral but lacking too much bass info (IMHO). And a pair of Audeze LCD2vwhich are cracking……but too heavy for tracking and ...

Re: Bought myself a Kronos2 88

You’re most welcome thank you. I expect you’re right, there are 9 engines in the Kronos, they can be used singularly (programs) or together (combinations or combis). The stock sounds are strong, but I’m sure you’ll end up tweaking, just remember to save your work as you go. My Kronos X 88 is the hear ...

Morning there, Quite a few interfaces now have 2 headphone outs, (eg. https://www.soundonsound.com/reviews/audient-id4-id14-mkii ). Re: Guitar in tune but yet not?

But I do think 10s are more suitable for playing chords if what you're doing is mostly chords.

I’ll definitely try a set.

Re: Guitar in tune but yet not?

But with other instruments playing, I expect you’re less likely to notice some chord intervals sounding not quite right. Yes I think this was the first time (for me) I felt I just wanted the guitar doing the work, the reverb didn’t help either, holding some harmonics that slightly jarred. Being a ke ...

E1 = -2.3 cent B2 = 0 G3 = 0 D4 = -0.4 Cent A5 = -2.1 Cent E6 = -2.3 Cent Given that the frets themselves are laid out in 12TET, no thanks. Re: Guitar in tune but yet not?

Red light fever. I know it well. Try recording it in shorter chunks, then when you're happy with a take from each chunk, relax a bit a record the whole thing. Re: Guitar in tune but yet not?

Thanks Adrian, I’ve checked my other guitars too and I’m thinking it is a technique issue.
