Re: JZ Mic Giveaway email

I’ve entered too. Is it an absolute requirement to follow them on Instagram? The email I got says: “ Dan, thank you for registration - YOU'RE IN! 🎉 “ It also says “Be sure to follow us on Instagram” but surely if they say you’re in, then you’re in. I’m not convinced. I’ve never won anything in my li...

Monitor controller app or plugin for iPad

Not sure if this belongs in a different forum so mods please feel free to move it. I'm wondering if there is an app or plugin that I can use with my iPad to analyse realtime audio. Currently I use my Audient iD22 with my Mac for these duties which include mono summing and monitoring the ‘sides’ sign...

Re: Live digital mixing desk - which one to buy

A tip for running ‘headless’ mixers over wifi: We used to gig with a Behinger X32 Rack and used an Apple Airport as the wifi router. I downloaded an app to scan the wifi landscape in each venue to find the cleanest band within the spectrum. I then set our router to transmit/receive on that channel a...

These Canford sequential on/off power distros are the dog’s wotsits but they’re expensive.

Re: Yamaha MT4X not recording on track 1

The Servisiol will as it contains a lubricant. Are we talking Super 10? EDIT: just read the blurb. I never knew it contained a lubricant. I always felt it left pots feeling scratchy so I switched to DeoxIT F5 The last can of Super 10 I had was purchased in Maplin many years ago so it’s been a while...

Re: Yamaha MT4X not recoridng on track 1

Thanks, so isopropyl alcohol and cotton buds for the heads and switch clearer for the switches - would that work on crackly pots as well? DeoxIT Fader F5 for potentiometers and faders. Switch cleaner clears away the necessary lubricant on pots as well as the dirt leaving them feeling scratchy. F5 c...

Re: Headway EDB 2 - guitar effects on mic’d violin

Not sure how you're powering the DPA, but just as a reference I recently bought the Eventide MixingLink to apply effects pedals to mic inputs and it's a superb bit of gear - very flexible. Re: What’s up here?

That’s just the talkback speaker for FOH. It doesn’t have to be fancy so there’s not much point in spending decent money on it. You just need to be able to hear relevant talkback traffic, although it does have to be reliable. We generally use Fostex 6301s in this role (or their Canford equivalent). ...

Re: Bass strings for Jazz bass

James Jamerson is supposed to have used LaBella flats in a slightly heavier gauge, I have no direct experience of those string though. I’ve tried them once and didn’t get on with them but yes, they are the authentic motown bass string as used by Jamerson. Guages are .052 - .110 so they’re definitel...

Re: Bass strings for Jazz bass

Thomastik-Infeld (TI) Jazz Flat Wound strings are what I have on one of my precision basses and they’ve been on it for about 10 years now. I’ll probably never change them. Best flats I’ve ever tried. I use a foam mute with them too.
