Re: External MIDI instrument audio shows up but can't monitor instrument sound

Have you checked the ‘I’ input monitor button on the channel?

Re: UK based synth tech

I've known a few people use Kent Spong and they've been very happy with his work.

But you may find yourself in a Queue behind Rick Wakeman, Kate Bush, etc. I believe he's a very busy man.

Re: Midi boxes vs USB for triggering keyboard in a DAW

I'm currently running 4 keyboards through a USB hub with no issues whatsoever. (And a Q-Con Pro G2 control surface, and a Softube console 1)

For a while I also had a MOTU MicroLite Midi hub and 4 more keyboards off that but I've been seriously downsizing in anticipation of moving soon

Re: Keyboard EQ

I once had the privilege (yup, I know I've told this tale before!) of sitting in on a rehearsal with a world-renowned (in church circles) composer, performer and worship-leader. I knew her long before she became all those things and she always struck me as a gentle and gracious person. it was a rev...

MainStage backup rig?

I was thinking of maybe putting together a backup MainStage rig. Does anyone know how these backup rigs work. I have an older MacBook Pro, which is capable of running MainStage (possibly I’d need a slimmed down sound set) But how could I get it to communicate with my usb keyboards at the same time t...

Re: Custom bass cab

Thanks for the suggestions. As it happens the bassist has bought themselves an Orange combo. Which I'm sure they'll be happy with... But I reckon looking at the graphs from WinISD, a Celestion Pules12 in a ported cab based on their design paired with a TC Electronics Thrust BQ250 Class D, for a litt...

Re: Hardware samplers

Having spent hours trying (usually unsuccessfully) to loop samples convincingly in the Alesis Fusion sample engine, and again in the Fantom G, I can honestly say I really don’t have any urge to revisit such things.

Re: XY/NOS miking

I’m always amazed by what was achieved “back in the day” when classic albums were made with 16, 8 and even 4 track recorders, and by todays standards quite modest consoles.

Big rock albums from the early 70s might well only have had 3 or 4 mics on the kit.

Re: Controller Keyboard to use with Logic

Take a look at the IK Multimedia iRig Keys 2 Pro.

37 Keys
Full Size Keys
USB C, USB A and Lightning connectivity
MIDI IN Out (On 2.5mm jacks but ships with adaptors)

Seems to tick all your boxes.

Re: Korg 700s FS.

Back in the 70's I went to see Weather Report and was completely blown away, especially by Joe Zalwinal's fantastical sounds. The next day I went to my local music store to buy a synth, and all they had was the Korg 700s. It was beautiful! I bought one, but wound up returning it after a couple week...

Re: External article on Steinberger guitar history

I remember Mike Rutherford and Daryl Stuermer both having the Steinberger guitars and basses on the Invisible Touch tour

For Mike it was a case of the sublime to the ridiculous having gone from his Shergold jigsaw double neck custom monster

Re: Keyboard EQ

Is the keyboard just piano sounds? Or other sounds such as organ or strings? There won't be a one-size fits all EQ setting. Although this is true, if their Church is anything like ours, One-size-fits-all just has to suffice. Probably a volunteer team on the PA many of whom don't even know where the...
