Re: Which Mic is best suited for my Voice (Shure SM7B used so far)? With audio examples!
With the SM7B,I would also get rid of that pop filter.

Re: Thinking about genres
I would be really interested in hearing other people's thoughts on this one. I guess it's not unusual to come across people with pretty eclectic tastes in music, I would probably count myself in there number, I was going through my iTunes library, my CDs and vinyl and there is all sorts of stuff I ...

Re: Please Recomend good headphones for mixing.
I'm a recent convert to Audeze LCD-X. I was surprised — and delighted — at just how much better than my previous cans (HD650) they were. Yeah, aren't they? It's so quick to make a mix and it keeps the same balance as with monitors. Worth every penny! Still perfectly fine to make a mix on other hea ...

Yeah I do the same, in doubt, always tune a little bit below so I can micro-bend in tune as necessary. The actual tuning on the guitar is done by ear whether you know it or not

Re: The Mix Review -- Happy 10th Birthday!
reminiscing about some of the hundreds of productions I've critiqued over the years -- including both my Highlight Of The Decade... and my Lowlight Of The Decade! A cool read! Re: Is the Big Muff a noisy pedal and is there a quieter fuzz that does a similar job?
Both my PSUs are isolated. It was a temporary set-up so it may just be that the Muff was troublesome in that context. It seems fine in another context so next time I’ll use a DI box with it and hopefully that will be enough. I played with the 3 pedals during the comparison and if I recall correctly, ...

Re: New M1 iMac shipping with 256GB storage as standard!!!
If I may, can we avoid this kind of "person-related" posts altogether? I believe is not the point at all of the forum and it always ends up with follow-up posts by others either digging in, or defending the individual persons/nick. The whole feels very primary school, gets old quickly and frankly it ...

Re: Brainworx bx_console N is on a deal today and tomorrow. It's been a revelation for me.
Anyone else using Console N finding it weirdly decides sometimes that stereo tracks are mono and will only instantiate a mono version of the plugin? I'm in Reaper so it doesn't really have the concept of mono or stereo tracks at root. I'll drop BX a note but no idea what their response time is like ...

If you don't have a word clock connection between the two devices you are aggregating, the software will have to guess a common clock, ... You've posted this before and it is completely wrong. Re: UAD Arrow + External D/A converter (no spdif out)
I don't know - we'd have to know more on how the aggregation software corrects for drift? It may also depend on what exactly the OP is trying to do (i.e. just listening, or listening to playback and monitoring the inputs at the same time?). What I'm thinking is that the aggregation software still ...

Re: Is the Big Muff a noisy pedal and is there a quieter fuzz that does a similar job?
CS70 is wrong here, a distortion pedal does add gain. :headbang: Surely for the final output output it is “can” not “does”? Indeed. Beyond the unpleasant digression, I cannot but repeat what I wrote Yeah it would: a boost adds only a moderate amount of gain, and possibly only in certain frequency ba ...

Re: Streaming room needs acoustic treatment
A super cheap option that works surprisingly well is to use beach towels, the thick type, if you find an inexpensive (or free) supply. If you layer many of them within a wooden frame (say 120x60cm) that you make, you get a quite good broadband absorber. Make sure the sides are the usual 10cm and the ...

Re: Where to Route Effects Returns?
I realise there are many ways to do this, each with its own pros and cons. Thoughts, opinions? Indeed there are. What matters is only the relative balance of which signals end up mixed together, so for any given balance there's infinite routings that can achieve that. In practice a big difference ...

Re: WOW -- Vangelis real-time orchestral performance on WavesArt custom setup
As an anecdote, I don't really know anything by Vangelis other than "Hymn" and I remember pointing that piece to an ex-gf of mine who is a very good classical player. She was quite unimpressed. I love the melody in that piece but as the playing goes, it is - I guess - fairly simple to play. Or at ...

Re: Timing Vs Tempo ???
If it's of any help, in my recent foray in recording a piano part, I found it very helpful to figure out a few measures at the time and recording them progressively, every time starting a few bars before (to get a sense of the feel) and using a metronome. I am in absolute no way a classical piano ...

I remember hearing Keeley talk about how the point of many distortion pedals is that you could reshape the signal without boosting it.
I haven't seen all the distortion pedals in existence and I hear there are a few but I will leave you to your certainties
