Re: Have you ever maxed out your M1 or M2?
I don't think that's what muzines meant. Significantly upgrading the RAM/storage on a Mini ends up costing around the same as buying a Studio, and with the latter you'll get a more capable CPU/GPU and more connectivity. So it's the price that's the same, not the specification. Exactly ...

Re: Have you ever maxed out your M1 or M2?
I would suggest you look at the Geekbench score for your current machine, and the same score for the machine you're interested in getting. That's a rough idea of general CPU performance improvements you'll get. If the new machine is three times faster, you can generally run three times as many ...

Re: Have you ever maxed out your M1 or M2?
It's not super hard to max out a core, you just chuck a bunch of heavy plugins into live mode. You still need to think about resource juggling, but it really depends on your needs - asking whether other people have enough power is relatively meaningless as you have no idea of what their projects ...

Re: Another obscure Logic Pro problem?
Not exactly obscure... ;) When I open the project it gives me a couple of warnings, something like the Midi device [Prophecy/Fantom] is no longer connected. Yes when I started the project there was a Fantom, there was a Prophecy. But they are long gone, their tracks were bounced to audio, and the ...

Re: Mac Mini 6., worth buying now?
I would not recommend buying any Intel Mac nowadays, especially one this old, unless it's for a specific very limited purpose. This machine looks to be a Core i5 from 2012, so don't expect to have a great experience doing DAW work on it, unless your requirements are modest...

Re: Is there an advanced plug in that allows you to copy those revolutionary tape machine techniques that 10cc used?
Those two demos are using the sounds in completely different context to what they were designed for of course. When you play them with more of that dreamy quality, loads or reverb, they're quite nice and have an interesting character. Of course, there were multiple bounces and so quite a bit of ...

If there's not such a plug in for the 'I'm not in Love' ahhh tape sound If you have Kontakt (full version required) you can buy and play the *actual* samples: https://www.sampletekk.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=64_71&product_id=77 "We're very chuffed to announce that we've had a little ...

Re: Logic Colour Palette
an interesting observation - I loaded a very old Logic song which was from the day when you could change the colour palette. The regions showed up with the colours I assigned back then even though they were no longer in the colour picker. Bright yellow regions! I almost have to put on sunglasses ...

Re: Logic Colour Palette
You can't change it officially, but you can hack the files to change the palette, or use the Logic Colouriser app which does the same thing.
You have to remember to re-apply any hacks you do to the binary after every update, of course.

Re: RIP Mike Lynch: A Music Technology Legacy
The whole event is so tragic and sad - from the recent news I had no idea it was the same guy that made the Lynex, but I do vaguely remember further discussion about his path on from those days and that he was very successful in the tech space. Thanks Ian and Wiff for the stories behind the products ...

Re: Universal Audio Century Tube Channel Strip currently free
All it will do is slow down my decision making. Or speed it up! That's the benefit of these things - most tracks could often do with some basic tonal shaping and compression. But chucking a channel strip (of your choice) on every track, those things are always instantly available, without ...

Re: Is audible latency simply impossible to avoid?
At the lowest buffer, roundtrip latency is about 7ms, which is just under the widely regarded threshold of being able to notice timing differences. If you are snapping your fingers and hearing an echo, you have something going on, likely one or more latency inducing plugins or something else, as it ...

Re: Universal Audio Century Tube Channel Strip currently free
Great plugin, and pretty much a no-brainer.
It's essentially the 610 Preamp, the 1073 EQ and the LA3 that the various components of the channel strip are derived from.
Uses iLok (machine licensing, or dongle).

Re: Audio drop-outs on playback from Logic
My problem seems to be slightly different to yours in that my drop-outs are only temporary - about 1 beat long at around 120-140BPM. It's disconcerting, but I'm trying to get my band used to just playing through the glitch to make it less noticeable. Ideally I would prefer not to have any drop-outs ...

Muzines, have you been able to get any more information on this problem? So, I've only been able to investigate when the drop out happens. For a week after the initial event, I had zero problems, Scarlett and Stream Deck were behaving as expected - until exactly a week later, watching the same ...

Re: Late 80s synth bells
Any romplers of the time will have something similar (popular sounds from popular synths tended to get copied and replicated in other machines for obvious reasons), or you can easily make a composite sound to your taste by layering some bells and a strings or string/synth pad. I'm not sure I'd want ...

Re: Moog launch Muse polysynth
When I first heard some of the leaked demos, the first batch of sounds weren't that inspiring - it sounded a bit weak and string machine-like - something not helped by the Polymoog-inspired sliders, which I'm not a fan of. (It's got a VOX HUMANA preset too...) However, some later sounds were much ...

Re: Moog launch Muse polysynth
Technically, 3-VCO, as it's configured like a Mini. That third-oscillator is switchable between a regular oscillator, and a modulation oscillator. There's also a separate Pitch LFO and other stuff too.
