Re: KV2 AUDIO EX10 Intermittent fault

Sounds like a component failure or bad connection inside or bad solder. If you're familiar with micro electronics repair it's time to get the multi-meter out and check each path. Something like this I'd give KV2 a call and see what they say, but you're probably looking at sending it to a repairer to ...

Re: Two good products which would you choose

I've never really got on with KV2 Audio speakers, so if you're matching the D&B with a D12, I'd probably go for that. That said, what are you buying it for and what is your budget? There are probably better/wider options we can suggest if you give us more info. I'd say that 2 very specific sets of ...

Re: Help find source of distortion

I've got 5 TS310 that I use as monitor speakers, and I've used a TS410. I'll be honest, unless you're in a biiigggg room I can't see you needing the 12 or 15. The bottom end out of the 10s is insane. I've not used the 08s so can't comment, Have you got access to a mixer? Try plugging in the keyboard ...

Re: Ok so I'm bit embarrassed about this but....

Yes, and theres also that other, often forgotten thing, the EQ knob! That always makes the purists go mad "oh no you can’t use that" :D I know the ML-1 and other modellers seem to get a bit of push back, but like I said, it's a great mic even without the preset modelled EQ curves applied

Re: Ok so I'm bit embarrassed about this but....

I'm going to throw into the mix the Slate ML-1. Modelling mic, although I think it sounds pretty good by itself without the modelling software. I've used it on several different voice types and I've always found it to deliver a great result, and the modelling helps shape the sound in anyway you want ...

Re: Lithium AA’s in radio mics - any thoughts?

No. That's the simple answer, but it's a bit more complicated. In reality you can use rechargeables, but don't skimp on them if you want any kind of life out of them. I've used the specific shure rechargeable packs on a 2 week run musical theatre show, and to be honest it was more hassle making sure ...

Re: Do you jump in?

Context is everything. 1) You're the house engineer and the touring guy doesn't have a clue and it sounds terrible: If the system isn't in danger, then you leave him. It's not your job to make them sound good. 2) You're a punter at a big gig and the sound is bad, and the crew look relaxed and don't ...

Re: Advice please - new MacBook pro, M4 or M4pro chip

I used to think this too but I am starting wonder - So the machine lasts a long time but eventually it won’t be able to run current OSs, plugins and programs can’t be updated and are no longer supported and who knows if it will be able to keep up with current security demands. Re: I am considering buying a small pro rehearsal and recording studio. Good or Bad idea?

It's hard not to disagree with Hugh, because he talks a lot of sense. It's going to be break even if that, and it's a lot of work. We lease a couple of buildings to do our business in, and without a lot of time input from us it wouldn't work. Last week I had to take an 2 hours out of hire to fix ...

Re: Advice please - new MacBook pro, M4 or M4pro chip

I splashed out and got an M3max last year. Don't regret it, as a year on and this thing still eats up everything I throw at it. As usual with these things, I usually encourage people to get the most powerful you can afford as it will usually last that bit longer. But the afford thing is key, and I ...

Re: Best used digital piano

Casio, you need to get the Privia range. If not, then I'd avoid. The Privia stuff is awesome though. Really nice feel and sound. Otherwise I'd be leaning towards Yamaha or korg. But bear in mind that older Yamaha keyboards are really difficult to get parts for if they break....plus they are a pain ...

Re: Band looking at our first portable PA

I'd agree on the QSC, though RCF and Yamaha are other options.

But budget dependant. You can obviously spend more and get better/more powerful.

Re: Logic Pro - SOLOing the Reverb bus

Hi All, I've tried soloing the reverb bus in a song, in order to hear what's going on. When I do, I can't hear anything. My logic tells me that this makes sense, as obviously if I've effectively muted everything else, then of course there's nothing playing to the reverb bus. But, the other half of ...

Re: Digital mono summing for Subwoofer?

The root cause of your percieved problem is having insufficient rig for the gig. ...... Ultimately, just remember that, however much you'd like to, you can't overcome the rules of physics. Quoted for emphasis. You want to run the tops hotter so you've got more level on the tops you can do that ...

Re: Digital mono summing for Subwoofer?

I get why "aux fed subs" is a thing, and for me it's all genre and sound design dependant. I think for 70% of shows, it's of no benefit. A further 10% it's nice to play with, and then maybe 20% of show it's actually worth the effort. You can do it, but do you have a sound engineer with you? If you ...

Re: Mixing for YouTube Livestream

Hate to possibly state the obvious, but usually when mixes don't translate well to other media/listening environments it's down to bad/inaccurate acoustics in the mix room. Might be worth checking your monitoring or using headphones.

Re: Slate VSX Headphone Studio Simulators

Just recorded a guitar part. Using 96kHz, buffer of 64 samples, and loop through monitoring through logic guitar amp and VSX, I did not notice the latency. We all have reference mixes that we listen to. I've had this on the SQ at our local venue. That and a couple of the buttons stopped working. We had one of the early production run ones and they had some issues. A&H are brilliant on customer service in my experience, so just call em up and chat it through.

We got ours fixed very quickly!
