Re: I sold ALMOST ALL of my music gear and it feels GREAT!
I agree with the OP and others on here, I also have sold about 80% of my gear, and yes it feels great. I have mainly kept either the very small (a few pedals) or the very large (Korg PS-3100 and PS-3200, Arp 2600 and Moog Voyager.) Almost the least of it is that someone else is hopefully getting som...

Re: Modal Electronics insolvent
The restructuring happened with Roli too. I wonder if that's a common/the usual thing when companies are, er, financially challenged?

Re: HDD won't mount
If you suspect it might be HFS+, you can give it a go, but if the drive isn't even spinning, that's not a great sign. It still doesn't appear in Disk Utility? If the computer recognises a drive is there, it should appear in Disk Utility, and potential repairs run on it... Thanks, things seem bleak;...

Re: HDD won't mount
Just as a follow-up, I finally managed to get the back off the Seagate drive, and extract the drive. I dug out my old USB drive caddy and connected everything up. BUT the drive couldn't be mounted, sad to say. The drive tried to spin up, but it ticks a little and is unable to, and I get a system mes...

Dave.
Thank you Dave.

Re: HDD won't mount
It could be a corrupted boot sector!! Have you tried a disk recovery program? Not yet but I will give it a try if I can get it to start. Well, it starts up at least, after having been frozen and thawed out for a few days! I can hear the drive spin up but then nothing, and I get a system message tha...

Re: HDD won't mount
In desperation some years ago I stuck a drive in the freezer overnight and much to my surprise next day we managed to get it running for about 20 minutes, long enough for son to pull some of his work of it. I thought the freezing thing was internet b*****s but, worked for me, a bit! Dave. Great ide...

Re: HDD won't mount
It's a Seagate. I have one of those drive caddies, which I use for managing NAS drives. Do you think this would be of any use?

Re: HDD won't mount
No it's not recognised when connected directly.

Re: HDD won't mount
Thank you MOF and musings. I think the drive is APFS. No, the drive is not recognised (I used About This Mac> Storage to see, but Disk Utility also doesn't see it.) I have changed cables, but I hadn't thought of connecting it directly to the computer, which I will try next, and report back here. Luc...

HDD won't mount
Hi,
I have a misbehaving external USB drive that won't mount, all that it's got to show for itself is a rapidly blinking activity light. I have changed PSU but it's the same thing. Is there anything I can do? I suspect that the drive is dying, hence it's behaviour. Thanks.

Headphone advice
Dear wise ones of the internet. Onre of the drivers of my Audeze LCD-1 has failed, and they will replace both drivers with a matched pair, rendering them effectively a new set. But the cost of the replacement set of drivers is about the same as the price of a new pair of headphones from many other m...

Analogue vocoder - compressor?
I have a 1970's Korg VC-10 vocoder which is great, but I am trying out a new microphone with it. Should I use/do I need a compressor with the mic? Or a limiter? The bespoke MS-01 microphone (the one on the gooseneck) works well, but is a little long in the tooth. Thanks!

Re: Wonky USB controller
If the device has slowly become more unreliable the likely cause is a capacitor. I have a behringer bcr2000 that progressively became more and more unreliable on usb but still worked fine over din midi. Turned out that replacing the caps in the PSU resolved the issue. There's a site called khrons b...
