Re: Anyone using AVID S1 with Logic Pro?

Only game in town? Where have you looked? Makepro, Waves, SSL, Asparion and JL Cooper all make high end DAW controllers in the same or higher price range as the Avid S1. A little lower in price are Presonus, Faderfox, Icon and Mackie. Seems like a lot of choice, to me. Been using a Frontier Alphtra...

Re: Anyone using AVID S1 with Logic Pro?

Thanks for the replies. Great to hear the Eucon protocol actually works with Logic as they claim. I hear you Wonks - it's always a risk I know and this buy out by some kind of investment fund doesn't inspire confidence - but - I'm shocked how poor this market is - there's basically nothing else of q...

Anyone using AVID S1 with Logic Pro?

I'm interested in acquiring a DAW controller for Logic Pro and the AVID S1 looks interesting.

I wonder if anyone is using the S1 with Logic, and if so, how you find it?

Thanks!
Kevin.

Re: Audio/MIDI USB interfaces for the iPad/iPhone etc

Is there a way to connect a keyboard line out into an iPhone with Lightning port so that I can record video on the iPhone of a keyboard performance and be sure to capture the audio directly too to the video? So - synth line out straight into iPhone videoing, with the line signal from the synth repla...

iPad App

Hi I subscribe to SOS on iPad but haven't used the SOS App in over a year. Today I went to retrieve all past issues only to discover that I'm having to manually download every single issue separately! In the past it was easier where multiple downloads could be set off and I just let it do it. Does s...

Re: Lexicon MX400 - thoughts?

Thanks Hugh and Arpangel for your thoughts - lots to ponder. I'm not sure I agree with your arguments however ( are you surprised? ) :-) . To Hugh - to me - in a Lexicon parlance - classic might not mean what you suggest, but instead might suggest "a staple" - as in - a classic Lexicon Hal...

Re: Lexicon MX400 - thoughts?

I guess it comes down to what you seek to do with the MX400. If you're trying to emulate a real acoustic space with great precision it may not be the tool for you. If you're looking for some lush, nice-sounding generic reverbs, it could well be perfect. It certainly isn't junk... Hi Hugh - I know s...

Re: Lexicon MX400 - thoughts?

Lexicons I have owned. The MX300/400 are OK, but nothing to write home about, the delays on these cheap Lexicons are their selling point, "not" the reverbs. This is in contradiction to both the SOS review, and what Lexicon themselves are claiming about the reverbs onboard the MC400XL - th...

Lexicon MX400 - thoughts?

Are there any Lexicon MX400 users out there? If so - how do you find it? for the first time I'm 'noticing' it - and it looks like a really great unit - classic Lexicon reverbs, SPDIF, dual channel, surround mode - and - incredibly good second hand prices. Is this perhaps a "hidden gem" in ...

Wondering if there are any recommendations on excellent books on "mixing"? I'm looking for one book - a bit like Bob Katz book on Mastering - that covers the subject comprehensively and that is widely respected.

SOS review of Korg ARP2600FS

I just read the SOS March edition review of the Korg ARP 2600 FS. It's one of the four on the MBP. Who knows what it's called USB3 USBC Thundebolt 3 Whatever. They are Thunderbolt 3 ports, with a USB-C connector. Thunderbolt handles a bunch of formats over it, including USB, FW, DIsplayport, and Thunderbolt itself. It's both a good thing, and fairly confusing too...
