Re: Best lightweight keybed...
I'm done with heavy!! Lugging heavy keyboards around gig venues isn't my idea of fun. I currently use a Nord Stage 4 for gigging, and with its Gator hard case it weighs in at just under 27 kilos. I love the keybed of the Nord stage 4 73 - it's the best gigging keybed I've ever played. I'm using a s...

Re: Faulty Alesis Multimix 8
Thanks for the replies. There does seem to be a bit of loose metal in that jack socket. Have tried inverting the board to see if it drops out but that doesn't work. I've locate the socket pins on the other side of the board so I'll take it off. EDIT: Just as the soldering iron was heating up, the ja...

Re: Faulty Alesis Multimix 8
I've dismantled the mixer to see if there's anything amiss and it all looks ok. There was a bit of a jack plug that was jammed in the R socket of stereo 7/8. It's out now but a plug won't fully insert so something might still be lodged in. Not sure if this would cause the problem. Have been using ba...

Re: Rcf 932a - worthy upgrade?
I have the 905 subs paired with RCF HD12a's. Great sound. It was between these and the ART 712a or 722a but prefer the look of the HD's. Agree with the preference for a simple input arrangement. I also have a pair of Yamaha DXR10's for keys/small PA and while the DSP/mixer is useful, a straight forw...

Yes. Using the reverb. Haven't tried it without but good idea to set the return to zero to see if it's that.

Faulty Alesis Multimix 8
Hi We're using a S/H Multimix 8 in the studio for band rehearsals and it emits a strange, very intermittent noise. It was £50 and may have had this issue already. Like a loud clang with reverb. Makes it unusable really. I usually fix hardware faults with instruments and PA equipment but not so much ...

Re: XLR plug got stuck
'Caveat emptor' is about all one can do? Dave. Yes, with the cheap stuff. It’s taken over ten years for the problem to arise. The cable male plug has probably never been used in a locking XLR socket before. Always in non locking mixer preamp ones. It’s funny, as the speaker owner/bass player often ...

Re: XLR plug got stuck
A bit weird that. I find with cheap XLRs it’s the female chassis socket where the shortcuts manifest themselves, cheaply made release tabs bend and fail to reach where they should. Other issues tend to be apparent on the way in as much as the way out. Did you manage to check the state of the chassi...

Re: XLR plug got stuck
The low cost (mostly Chinese) alternatives tend to be very variable, though, and I've seen a lot of issues with latches that won't release and plugs that jam in sockets. Thanks for the replies. Yes, that sounds about right. It’s the first time it’s happened in 30+ years but I won’t use the Chinese ...

XLR plug got stuck
Hi Just a question regarding XLR male plugs. Did a gig last weekend with mine and the bass player’s equipment as usual but spent a good 45mins after the gig trying to release an XLR plug from a new RCF speaker. Not convenient at all as it was outside, dark and the stage company was waiting to take d...

Obsolete radio mics
Hi I have an AKG WMS40/SR40 dual wireless mic system that runs on channel 69. From a post a few years ago, I found that they are illegal to use now. We’ve gone back to using wired mics anyway but I’m not sure what you do with mics like this. I’m assuming just take them to the local recycling centre....

Re: Is passive PA gear worth anything?
*********************** Hi Dan, Passive gear do have value, and you have to be in .line with the prospective user for the price to be right for you. Selling as a group will be simpler, but selling as individual item will produce a bit more buyers, but will take up more of your time. Here in the US,...

Re: Behringer XENYX outputs
For a small versatile mixer, I'd suggest an Alesis Multimix 8 USB FX. https://www.alesis.com/products/view/multimix-8-usb-fx I have an older one I bought used (£60) and it's got the most features of all the small mixers around that I could see (and were affordable). The built-in FX are OK if not ou...

Re: Behringer XENYX outputs
Here's another endorsement for A&H's Zed series. I have both a Zed6 and a Zed10FX. These are the only small mixers I could find that don't have an external power supply box. Just plug in a mains cable and you're good to go. (The Zed6 use a C5 "mickey mouse" cable, whereas the Zed10 is...

Re: Behringer XENYX outputs
I've had 1202FX and still have a 1202. Unlike Dave I've had zero problems with the power lead coming out, despite some 'robust' use at a regular open mic night for a few years. But like Dave I've always found the sound quality to be perfectly acceptable and the pre-amps plenty good enough for pub w...

Re: Behringer XENYX outputs
I have had two 1202 mixers through my hands in the last 6 months and I can say they perform very well in terms of noise and general sound quality and as far as I know the outputs are impedance balanced. I have one feeding a pair of Tannoy 5As over 10mtrs of cable and there is no noise pickup that I...

Re: Behringer XENYX outputs
Worth having another look round. I last looked in detail a couple of years ago and there might be something else that's appeared since then to consider. Thanks. Yes have had quite a good look around. Souncraft and RCF also came up. The former has non switchable phantom power to the pre's apparently...

Re: Is passive PA gear worth anything?
Well, not a great debut trying to sell the PA on Ebay. It's off now and the equiries were suspicious and time wasting. Took a while to figure it out.
Will be part exchanging it at a reputable store for some Yamaha DBR10s.
