Cheers

I thought that we were just talking guitars and keys, no one said anything about recording German cars :bouncy:

Re: Backing Tracks

Even when creating my own backing tracks I, more often than not, start with a commercial MIDI track just to save a bit of time. Even if I buy three or more at one time they are £3.20 each. I then have to edit to the required arrangement, record the bass, fix any weak drum parts / keyboards, ...

Re: Analog mixers with DAW workflow?

If you are worried about latency, get an audio interface with a Direct Monitoring feature.

I have this on my ancient Steiberg UR824 interface and it allows me to set a high buffer size. The only time I ever reduce the buffer size is if I'm tracking a MIDI part with a VST.

Re: Backing Tracks

If you are just using this to practice / learn parts then try https://moises.ai/ . You can upload a track, split it into fifferent parts and mute as required. I create my own backing tracks for live use but I find Moises to be a great way to hear what's going on with drums. Results for bass are ...

The next Helix

For those who missed it, there was a livestream by Line 6 last night to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Helix, and to show us what is to follow later this year. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DjAJM4hSYVQ The interesting stuff starts at the 40 minute mark. Re: How are my bass traps looking and what shall I fill them with?

RW3 is a pain to get hold of these days. You usually have to order in bulk and the delivery cost is high. I got RWA45 from Amazon and it does the job, although it is less rigid.

Re: Compressor/limiter settings for IEM rig

It's additional cost, but I use a Behringer P16-M with my XR-18. I see that there is now a P16-HQ model which is £139.

As well as being able to easily set your own mix there is a built in, adjustable, limiter (all be it 1 knob).

I always thought that it was 38%. Splitting hairs really, the difference equates to 6" in my little room.

Re: Monitor placement opinions needed please!

How attached are you to that desk? It looks pretty big and you've got what? 8 channels in use judging by the leads plugged into the back. I've got a Behringer XR-18 digital mixer taking up just 3u of rack space in my little studio (other makes and models are available). If you're re-arranging your ...

Re: E-guitar recording: Passive DI box or "Hi-Z" interface button?

My interface (Steinberg UR28M) has a "Hi-Z" type button on two of the XLR inputs. Highly unlikely! The hi-z option will apply only to the instrument input via the T(R)S socket — not the XLR connection.. The first two inputs are combi connections, as per my UR824. Just use a normal, TS, guitar ...

Re: G-String Fuzz

Have you gone to a lighter string guage? Lighter strings generally mean less tension which, in turn, can reduce neck relief or even lead to back-bend. A lighter guage can also mean that the string sits too low within the nut slot and, in some cases, allow for sideways movement which can produce a ...

Re: Best Amp under $600 Clean warm round tones, 10 watt?

It would be worth looking at a Vox AC10. A lot of players seem to prefer this to the sound of the AC15 and it would appear to be bang on budget.
