Re: Looking for Insurance recommendations.

Thanks, did look at MU to start but it's more suited to a professional muso/performer and certainly has many benefits for that kind of work. I'm an amateur muso and really just play for fun/beer money but am doing more PA related work (perhaps should of said that in my OP) Have seen a few options on...

Looking for Insurance recommendations.

Bit off topic but still related to live events. Just wondering if anyone had recommendations for business insurance that includes equipment cover and PLI
Thanks.

Re: Guitar Amp Squeal?

Ahhh…that may of been the case, it was a community meeting room and I suspect they have loop systems in there. Good shout.
Forgot to mention I was listening to a Beyoncé track, Crazy in Love If iirc, through my guitar at one point.

Guitar Amp Squeal?

Borrowed a Boss Katana 100 last night for a one off gig and got there nice and early to set the amp up. Took my gear into a side room and started to dial in some settings. Sorted the clean channels then as soon as i tried to set a crunch/drive/lead channel, the thing started squealing terribly even ...

Re: Splitting up 1.5 hours of multitracks into ‘songs’

Great, thanks for that. Hopefully within the next couple of weeks I’ll get some time to have a good look at the process. It was just an experiment first time round and it’s something I’ll explore further. Ultimate goal is to capture some half decent live recordings so we can develop some promotional...

Splitting up 1.5 hours of multitracks into ‘songs’

But of a daft question but what’s the most efficient way of splitting up 1.5 hours of continuous multitrack recordings into ‘songs’ that can be used by whoever with whatever DAW they have. Basically I mic’ed up my band at a rehearsal a couple of weeks ago and recorded 1.5 hours of 12 channels of mul...

Re: Rcf 932a - worthy upgrade?

I am a bit in wonder why RCF would make, what they would suggest, is a superior speaker but at a very similar price point. I also much prefer the aesthetics of the 9 series and can imagine when on stage monitor duties, they're less prone to foreign objects falling into the ports/hf driver. I do like...

Rcf 932a - worthy upgrade?

I’m looking at some new 12” cabs to sit over my RCF 905 bins. As I need some additional monitors, I’ve decided to relegate my 422a cabs to take on that role and go for something with a little more headroom Just wondering if anyone is using the 932a and if they’re are worth the extra ££ over the stan...

Re: Advice needed for In-Ear Monitor Setup

I have 2 Iem setups, an LD Systems HPA01 wired and the xvive u4 wireless. The LD wired box is quite large in comparison with other units but has stereo inputs on xlr, volume and pan control. It also has a 9v dc input, so for fixed positions I can run power alongside the xlr input so not relying on b...

Re: XR18 or CQ-20B

I’m in the middle of weighing up the pros and cons of several digital rack mixers and have used (in order of how much I’ve used them ) mackie, A&H, behringer, soundcraft and presonus. Currently the cq20b is coming out in top due to the channel count, and the option to use a configurable foot swi...

Re: Options for playing video backdrops synced to band performance

At home I often send video from my Apple devices wirelessly to a screen using an Apple tv, however I’d never rely on that in a live environment, copper every time. I’d look at the venues LAN and see if you could send the video over their network.

Re: USA Strat neck advice sought.

Thanks all. Going to call a couple of luthiers next week to see if they can have a look. I don’t mind tinkering with budget guitars/basses, have rebuilt swapped bits and tweaked quite a few but didn’t want to tackle this as it’s a 40th anniversary so want to keep it as original as possible. Of my 3 ...

USA Strat neck advice sought.

Evening peeps. I’ve got a 30yr old USA strat with a neck issue and I believe the truss rod nut is at the end of its travel. When I got it there was a lot of relief with very high action. I loosened the nut to make sure it wasn’t damaged/broken then made a jig to clamp the neck and carefully pull the...

Re: Porter & Davis BC2 drum stool - problem sending an aux signal.

Had chance to tinker on Sunday as the module was next to the desk and I requested an early setup so we could. The difference between a working signal and peaking on the module was a fraction of a turn on the modules line input. I was still close to maxing out my sends and drummer is adamant he never...

Re: Porter & Davis BC2 drum stool - problem sending an aux signal.

Thanks Wonks, I’m just in the middle of testing my desk to rule out any issues there, so far everything is as it should be. No processing on the relevant outputs etc. All is metering correctly and have connected up a speaker just to double/triple check I’m sending a decent signal to the aux outputs....

Porter & Davis BC2 drum stool - problem sending an aux signal.

Had an issue last night and can’t yet guarantee it wasn’t user error somewhere. Typically we were rushed setting up and crammed in like sardines making troubleshooting impossible - playing and managing sound is never easy as it is. Anyway, the issue. Getting a nice kick drum level into the desk (qu1...

Re: Highly Directional Speakers

Which artwork did you go and see, we installed the Isaac Julien video wall which has the JBL Control 67HC/T pendants fitted, but don’t think that’s what you saw as we only have 2 on site. There’s quite a few manufacturers doing speaker systems for that kind of thing where the audio needs to be very ...

Very very basic rehearsal room recording - tips?

My band rehearse in a very small garage and we could do with some basic recordings to help us remember some arrangements etc. one of my peers hit record on his laptop last night, just using the inbuilt mic and as you can expect the results were less than ideal. So I was thinking of trying to make so...

Re: More suggestion to diagnosing/fixing earth hum

Update. Swapped the socket out for a new one with the earthed screw holes and tried Hugh’s original suggestion of providing an earth to my signal chain - no joy. Ran an extension upstairs from a socket closest to my consumer unit to rule out a weak earth link in the ring main. Still requires me to t...

Re: More suggestion to diagnosing/fixing earth hum

Hmmm. Well, all the power suppling the first floor of my house comes up in the corner of my little room with part of the ring main and kitchen lighting ring running directly below my chair with the upper lighting ring directly above my head at the desk position. That’s not a great start I suppose. I...
