But it is like a constantly changing landscape for me, recording, I may be in a rickety old cart one day, a car the next, then a train, or a Liner going to strange lands, that’s how I view equipment, it carries us on our journey, and we use what we need, and what suits us at the time, and no one w ...

FREE gear to a good home

Mods - Please delete if this is against the rules. Following an intensive gear clear out, I have the following bits still available. I don't want anything for it but would like to see it go to a worth while cause (good Karma etc........) Yamaha MSP3 Monitors Motu Midi Express XT - USB 8 IN/8 OUT ...

Liberation - Buying what I need NOT what I want!!

I've been away from the site for a while. During this time, I have sold all my gear. All I have kept is my MBP, UAD Arrow and my soft-synth/sample libraries (enough to sink a ship!!!) All I need is a controller keyboard and a good pair of headphones. The controller keyboard will be easy to sort. The ...

Re: Keyboard workstations - which one to buy

Always found drums a pain to program on the MC500. I used to program the drums on a TR909 and then record the midi into the MC500.

Ah..... the good old days!

Re: Keyboard workstations - which one to buy

I use my Kronos for sketches, but to be honest although the idea of not using a DAW is attractive, the Kronos sequencer is tricky to do serious editing with. Some folk are Jedi-like with what they’ve managed with it, but I’ll stick with Logic! Spot on!! Before the advent of DAWs, I used a Roland MC5 ...

Re: Keyboard workstations - which one to buy

It seems that everyone is on the 'no DAW' bandwagon these days, but I don't think it makes things any easier. To get a complete finished 'mix', I would agree that a DAW is the certainly the easiest way to achieve this. As I type this, I am sat on my sofa with a MBP on my lap working with Spitfire's ...

Re: Keyboard workstations - which one to buy

Interesting Guido3 saying about getting away from similar chord shapes by using a keyboardless MPC X this from the gent that got that lush Vintage Vibe Deluxe. Ha..... You are indeed quite correct! The VV73A lives away from the rest of my gear at the moment. Currently, it's kept in the house with ...

Re: Keyboard workstations - which one to buy

Great question!!! I have owned a fair few over the years and can confidently say you will find the experience frustrating. The Montage and latest Fantoms aren't really workstations now. The Kronos was probably one of the last true workstations. Recently, to get myself away from my Mac and DAW, I ...

Arpangel wrote: Thu Jul 06, 2023 8:59 pm As for the Montage, it’s so overrated, and the deal breaker for me was that "throbbing" joystick thing, at least the MX61 hasn’t got "that"

Re: That one keyboard, you can take anywhere.

I can identify with this. When I was younger and had much less money to spend on kit, you had to learn a piece of equipment inside out as there was no other alternative. The older I get, the more disposable income I have, the less deep into a synth I tend to go. As a result, I have far too much kit ...

Re: Mac Studio vs. Macbook Pro

As I have mentioned in previous posts, the only thing I would change with hindsight, is more onboard SSD storage. Mine has 512GB, I should have got 1TB.
