Re: Upgrade 10 year old PC

There are a few websites out there to help figure out what's compatible with what. You load in the parts you have and can search and sort by compatibility, among other things. The one I like is: https://pcpartpicker.com/ That's very helpful, thank you! +1 to an SSD system drive, in fact I have read...

Re: Upgrade 10 year old PC

One of the changes over recent years is the availability of M.2 NVMe SSDs, I would not build a new PC without using at least one. Thanks for your reply! I forgot to mention in my initial post that I got a new Samsung Evo SSD as system drive a few years ago. So still my question is: Can I change jus...

Upgrade 10 year old PC

I've been working on a dedicated Win7 audio PC (no internet, games or other stuff...) that I built in 2011. While it's actually still working fine, I think it's about time for an upgrade. Obviously more processing power would be nice, since the CPU is struggling when using newer plugins. Also, I'm s...

Re: Lenovo T460s RAM problems

Yeah, sounds like something's off. The fact that things change if you push the body suggests a physical issue - a socketed chip which has gone slightly off, a ribbon connector which has done the same, a dodgy soldering someplace. Old batteries are known to "grow" in size and push other co...

Re: Lenovo T460s RAM problems

Thanks again for your help, guys! As I wrote in my first post, the laptop runs absolutely fine when I remove the additional RAM and just use the 8GB that are soldered permanently to the mainboard! So it definitely has to do with the RAM slot, but since the problem is the same with two different RAM...

Re: Lenovo T460s RAM problems

Wow, thank you very much for your detailed answer! I already did a memory test with Lenovos UEFI diagnostics and it also crashed while testing. And the problem does appear consistently after a one or two minutes after startup. So it really seems as if it is a hardware error, but like I said I...

Lenovo T460s RAM problems

Hello everybody! I'm having serious trouble with my 460s, which recently started freezing. If it does there are some strange lines and squared on the display and it stays like that until I do a reset. But I also got bluescreens twice which said: - KMODEEXCEPTION NOT HANDLED - IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL ...

Re: New funk song - feedback appreciated

Not bad, followed you on Soundcloud. Thanks! You got some nice stuff on there too. Followed back! Seems very good to me. If I have a comment it would be that that one or two of the sounds are very similar to the voice, which is tad confusing. Didn't bother me much though. Maybe ...

Funky acid jazz house - feedback appreciated

Hey guys, here is a track I made for you to listen to. Kind of acid jazzy but with my usual funk vibe... 8-) It's a mixture of live instruments (Rhodes, synths, guitar, ...) and samples from an old soul track (who recognizes it? ;) ) https://soundcloud.com/andow7000/andow-the-future-is-now Let me kn...

Re: RCA into XLR: Transformer balance? Pseudobalanced cable? Telescoped ground?

N.B. The pseudo-balanced arrangement works extremely well to cure a ground loop problem, but ONLY if the unbalanced source has its own ground reference connection via a class-1 mains supply. It won't work -- and will actually introduce hums and buzzes -- if the unbalanced source is a double-insulat...

Re: Funky Whodini Remix

I also used a Talkbox for the backing vocals and the TAL Vocoder for the bridge. Yep, +1 for the fantastic TAL Vocoder, for me it´s usually this or Waves´ Morphoder. Which Talkbox/Synth combo did you use? Yeah, really like it! And it's also really versatile with the graphic EQ, which I didn't play ...

Re: Funky Whodini Remix

Btw, since this is the production sub forum: The synths used are Prophet 08 and Minitaur recorded either through a Gyraf G9 or an Echocord Mini - only softsynth used is Diva for bass. The guitar is an 80s Japan Stratocaster through a Fender Princeton in Amplitube. All drums and percussions are done ...

Re: Recommend me a monitor upgrade fro Event TR8s

I recently upgraded from TR8s to Neumann KH310 and couldn't be happier! So my advice is, if you really want a noticeable improvement, save up until you can afford some more expensive monitors. With the TR8s you already have really good value for the money, so I don't think 1000€ monitors would be th...
