Re: A Statement
but even playing music by another composer fulfilled me, because it was what I wanted at that point in time, Thank god there are those that can play certain types of challenging music so that people who have no desire or talent in that direction can hear them played live by real people, not just ...

Re: AI Music Is Exploding on YT (Probably on the other Streamers)
Just another way of getting free publicity - use an alarmist, controversial headline and sit back and watch the clicks come tumbling down from the heavens. Who cares whether the music is AI or organic, it's still formulaic, a robot looking for it's soul

Re: Win 11 taskbar
Just had quite a long online chat with a BT tech. Nice chap and he said he will reset my router, take about 4 minutes. Did not do Jack to speed things up but it did wipe all the numbers stored in my VOiP phones! "Oh! Should not have done that?" No indeed and when I had a DECT annyloggy rig THAT ...

Re: Win 11 taskbar
Taskbar: Thanks but no good to me (I have reverted to W10, W11 lappy is for son) I have just bought and installed Reaper and a lot of setting are buried in the taskbar* and there seems no way to move the page up. With ten I can just chuck the TB to to left side, there now, and do the bizz then put ...

Re: A Statement
I'd say that the music that has captivated me most during my lifetime has been music that some (most?) might describe as 'self-indulgent'. Making music to please others leads to endless variations of the Hokey-Kokey. Go your own way. I concur, that is what, after all, music is all about, note to ...

Re: Demos from a now famous artist!
I'd think in the absence of any formal agreement, then it's a case of DCUWCU, or, for a small fee, we could get together and listen to the music and put comments on the artist's social media and write "Great music - that backing (your stuff) is fantastic etc

Re: Roland GS-500 incoming
This morning I was listening to Desert Island Disks on the Radio and the guest was David Gilmour. At the end of the programme, the guest is asked what luxury they would like to have, if marooned on the deserted island and Gilmour said "It would have to be a guitar, without a guitar life is ...

Re: Which DAW and Controller have the best integration?
I have arthritis that is getting worse and need to move to a control surface to avoid some of the mouse usage. I've been on Reaper for years and love it, but I am absolutely willing to move on. I'm pretty lousy with understanding all of the software (CSI, etc...) solutions that I read about. What ...

Sounds like it'd be too much of a Faff-isa to get any use out of it, do you want to swap it for a bowl of cornflakes?

Re: AI Music Is Exploding on YT (Probably on the other Streamers)
That is a tautology isn't it? Everything depends on an individual situation - we live in a world that is contextually bound, hence the great variety of life, what happens in one circumstance might be irrelevant in another, without that happenstance life would be unbearably predictable and our coping ...

Re: Considering moving from PC to Mac. Low latency performance?
I spoke too soon :-( I turned on my other computer, to get some 'work' done and find the High Contrast setting has gone again. Now OK, it's no big deal to get it back again, I have had to do it so many times, but why oh why can't Windows remain as the user needs/wants it? When I use the telly, I ...

Re: Considering moving from PC to Mac. Low latency performance?
"I don't get it! What's with all this "incessant reconfiguring and upgrading" nonsense?" I tend to agree. I guess the PC has been a victim of its own success, in so much the relatively cheaper cost has been down to the fact that the PC architecture has been an open system, which allows for a sort ...

Minimum to start recording? a phone, and a cheap interface, of which there are many. You can't get much simpler than that, but it does the trick. Re: SOS FOR ARTISTS has arrived!
I for one wouldn't bother with LANDR, being one of those people with poor eyesight and needing Windows High Contrast, LANDr is one of those irritating websites where tickbox selections cannot be seen because on ticking/unticking a box it doesn't display which choice has been made. Note to website ...

Re: Cubase 14 problem - again :-(
I always approach re-installing with some trepidation after a bad experience on two occasions, where after a re-install, as a result of a broken computer, I'd used up all of of my 3 'lives' with the software. As it happens, Arturia does allow you to get a life back by de-licensing a computer, which ...

Those that write music for call centres might be advised to re-skill, soon, the Chatbots will be multi-tasking and writing and singing the tunes as well as saying "Have you tried a re-boot?"
