Re: Death of a Liquid Mix...
i too did hardware comparison tests.
UAD in some cases sounds "nicer" and is always more intuitive to use thanks to the GUI ,
however, NICER, does NOT mean more authentic/accurate

Re: Room diagram. First things first.
this is VERY over simplified. and not necessarily applicable to every situation, it's very much a DIYers rule of thumb..... and it only applies to panels that are significantly smaller than an entire wall, not entire wall structure designs. an increase in performance of a panel is achieved by ...

Re: Studiospares RED10 vs Primacoustic Recoil vs Auralex MoPads?
compression anywhere between 5-10% and maybe about 65% will be fine..... outside of that, the material does not act reliably as a spring. large areas of foam become surprisingly hard to compress, especially when the load is not directly vertical... the other way to do it if your load is insufficient ...

FooFighters..... usually sound great..... Re: Constant-gain plug-ins / DAW inserts?
can i just be pedantic rather than especially helpful...... constant gain, would seem to me to be a misnomer....
constant loudness perhaps??..... or an absolute signal level compensator????
might be a more accurate description of what you're looking for....

placed across the corner as glenn illustrated is more effective as a bass trap, than placed flat to the wall. significantly so.

Re: Low freq science experiment.

there is NO better foam than the RPG "Studio in a box" "Profoam" products. period. there are many foam products that are "equivalent" in terms of the material itself, but the RPG Stuff is by far the best design..... for a foam product. there are composite products and non foam based products that ...

for the record, connecting a sub physically to larger bits of furniture is a really really bad idea....

Re: how do you make a VSTi Bass natural decay?
yes, send it back to the arranger , and tell them to lengthen the midi notes on the bass part. nothing else you do has the remotest chance of sounding truly "natural" you can achieve some lengthening of the apparent note with a compressor , using a low threshold, relatively high ratio, lots of make ...
