Re: Time for a monitor upgrade.Which to get?
I happen to be a big fan of the Neumann KH line. I am the proud owner of a pair of KH 80s and the KH 750 DSP. I have also used the KH 310s. Mike Senior and I are both fans, and I actually got to test the KH 80 with KH 750 before he did, but he got to test the KH 80s alone before I did. If you go to ...

Re: please , help me choose one of those two mics...
Definitely go for the Shure PG27-LC. As for headphones, I'm a HUGE Beyerdynamic fan! I've tried most of what's out there and highly recommend either the DT 770 Pro or the DT 880 Pro. The 770s are closed-back (better for tracking) and the 880s are semi-open (better for mixing and monitoring). The DT ...

Re: 2 Headphone questions
I would highly recommend the Beyerdynamic 880DT Pro (250 Ohm) headphones! They're quite "honest" for mixing as that is how they are intended to be. They are also very comfortable to ware and made quite well.

Re: Best audio interface?
I highly recommend you check out the VSL line of USB 2.0 interfaces from PreSonus. I tested their Audio Box 22 VSL and it was quite good! I haven't checked out he FireStudio (firewire) line yet, but I hear that they are quite good too. A few people I know in the business recommended the Steinberg MR ...

Re: Which DAW For An Absolute Beginner?
My first DAW was Cubase SE3, which made me nuts! Couldn't deal with it. I found that even with the three manuals it came with, there were still functions that weren't covered. I bought the Idiot's Guide to help me out, but it was still overwhelming. I also had some technical issues. So, against my ...

Re: Jumbo Frets?
When referring to "jumbo frets" I'm guessing you mean taller (and also wider?). When trying all of these different guitars, I'm sure you have discovered the different neck shapes, profiles, and fingerboard radii. I'm certain that you are or will be using thin or light gauge strings (10s,9s,8s ...

Re: Focusrite Mkll Dynamic - what else might I need?
Before you consider Cubase or any other DAW purchase, I strongly urge you to consider PreSonus Studio One. I've used Cubase and Pro Tools and although they are popular, they are over-inflated with features that will probably detract you from making music; not to mention their high learning curves ...
