Re: Slideshow and Lighting control solution
I've heard good things about QLab The basic version is free but it is Mac only. Self-confessed QLab fanboy here. It'd certainly do the trick, but the two things that the OP needs to do (output video to a second display and MIDI/OSC cues) would require paid-for Audio and Video licenses. Audio ...

It's now hard to know in this thread what's just good basic engineering advice and what's childish innuendo.
So hard.
So hard.

Re: Apply FX to "Live" sound for monitors etc.
As above and would add: In a live situation it’s a mistake to judge the amount of comfort reverb to a wedge mix in isolation without hearing the FoH sound. An artist might ask for some until they hear what’s in the room at full volume, then the added reverb will often only be messing up the wedge cla ...

Re: Ear Defenders
My silicon Christmas tree of choice is by Vic Firth:

I discard the neckband to avoid getting them ripped out of my ears by adoring fans or passing mic stands, otherwise have been great for about 10yrs, probably 5-6 pairs.

Re: Cable to connect Fischer IEM body pack to A&H QU-PAC
Using TS jacks in the 1/4” “alt outs” usefully does all the grounding for you. if you’re concerned about attachment then wrap a velcro strap (yuk!) round the mic cable you’re using and the handle of any case your Qu Pac is in. I doubt it will be an issue, though.

Re: Again with the negative waves, Moriarty! More RF conundra.
Thanks Hugh, I’ll explore the groundings on the inputs. Headsets are cheap but brand new and issue doesn’t come/go with wiggling so not expecting that but will test. Discounting local digi-ference as these have been fine til recently, others are still fine and nothing has been installed nearby AFAIK. ...

Re: Cable to connect Fischer IEM body pack to A&H QU-PAC
You could also just buy a regular TRS(x1)-TS(x2) “insert” cable of the desired length and route whichever stereo mix you’re monitoring from to the “alt out” jack sockets in settings. Personally, I’d make up an adaptor, TS(x2)-XLRm, stick it on the end of a mic lead and run that from “alt out” as desc ...

Re: Again with the negative waves, Moriarty! More RF conundra.
TX RF getting into the headset cable due to a poor ground connection in the plug? Can you expand? I’ve not come across tha one. Or co-channel interference from the other radio mic transmitters. Try using a different combination of transmission channels. I’ve explored background RF (none to speak of) ...

Again with the negative waves, Moriarty! More RF conundra.
2 types of Senn wireless mics, EW100 G2 and XSW2, 2 of each four in total. What sounded like RF hash was showing up on the XSW handhelds but, after some cajoling and bad language the handhelds are behaving. The associated body packs on the other hand are producing nasty hashy noise when used with a ...

Re: Mixer, racked or desktop?
As I said, the MixWizard consoles adopt exactly that kind of rake angle if the connector pod is in the vertical position and the mixer is placed on a flat surface. Got that - but, as you can see in the pic, those cases can tip the desk up to nearer the vertical, which I thought is what we’re t ...

Re: Microphone stand suggestions?
While you’re contemplating those major investments, those square nuts and a wing-bolt of some kind should be readily available, albeit not described as mic stand parts, particularly for cheaper brands as they tend not to make their own bespoke bits. Re: Mixer, racked or desktop?
. I was thinking of getting an angled rack frame, which may make both issues easier, but mixers I think are best left flat, unless they are in set and forget situations. You could always do both, as and when appropriate: https://cases.com.au/image/cache/catalog/go%20rak%20std%20fx/mxr/go-rkmx140-1 ...

Re: Allen & Heath SQ5
The way I understand it: You have 48 internal processing channels that can be connected to whatever inputs and outputs you have available, local, s-link, dante, etc. If you have a 48/16 stagebox then you still have only 48 processing channels so you’ll have to choose between your external inputs and ...

I, too, have had a recent hankerin’ for some fruit-based gadgetry and have taken advice from the hive. Instead, I’m obliged by work stuff to engage with the Apple environment so I reall ...
