Re: M1 Macs and external monitor problems

Good going CC!

I was thinking to get a big monitor for my MBAir M1 over Christmas.

I installed BetterDummy now straight away before Apple close him down...

Cheers!

Re: Viscount Legend in the SOS forum

Great! Welcome Francesco! I am curious about what kind of key-bed you are using. Is it the Fatar Waterfall or is it something other. I have played the Legend solo a bit and it sounds great (J.Lord style mostly). Would it not be interesting to have a more basic model with only one set of drawbars and ...

Re: Best USB Keyboard with MIDI sockets?

You might want to look into one of these devices. It will give you midi I/O from any USB keyboard.

Re: RME AIO pro connection query

I’ve been eying this card as well and thought “who would spend this kind of money on these kind of specs and run unbalanced audio connections?” The balanced option would be an obvious addition. Should have been included from the start. Even most £90 USB interfaces have balanced connections. Now the r ...

Re: Allen & Heath GS-R24M with recent iMac/OS X

Yes drop any hopes of getting FireWire to work in any convenient manner and move on.
Running that desk over Adat with a RME digiface USB looks like a very tempting solution. Rock solid and stable performance and TotalMix to go with it... what else does a man need?

Re: Where are these New Mackie Onyx Mixers ?

I bet they are not getting the chips to be able get the production running.

I am waiting for the RME UCX 2 I guess for the same reason.

Re: Impedance Akai MPC Live 2 Inputs

There is also this 4 channel unit from TK Audio:

https://tkaudio.se/portfolio-items/transceiver/

They have also made a one channel unit in the 500 series format iirc.

Re: PREAMP before SSL2+ input?!?!

The OP was talking about the RNP (Really nice preamp) which could be used feeding the line inputs of the SSL. But it would be overkill. The SSL pres are more than capable and I doubt the RNP would add anything apart from making the setup unnecessarily complex. If you need more gain (which I doubt ...

Re: Firewire interface support on 7,1 Mac Pro

It’s wise to stay one or two behind as most folks here would agree on that. The last driver for your machine would run on Mac OS 10.12 “Sierra”. The adat settings looks like they are made with the mini switches on the card itself so no software should be necessary for them. And you would not have to ...

Re: Firewire interface support on 7,1 Mac Pro

If you have the FireWire card for the GSR24m with the adat ins and out as well you could just get this RME Digiface USB and should be no worries for the next decade or so.

Re: How do I interface Focusrite ISA 428 Mkii with PC

Just plug the line outputs of the Isa two into the line inputs of the Scarlett. For the 428 you need an interface with either enough line inputs (4) or a Dante or Adat input. What Scarlett interface do you have? That’s a lot of money for preamps. What mics are you going to use? There are a lot of v ...

Re: Core Audio?

Out of the three of them -- ASIO on Windows, ALSA on Linux and Core Audio on Mac Core Audio has the best design for audio. It uses a delay locked loop which adds a small amount of latency (8 -32 samples) but is more stable meaning less xruns (pops and clicks). Paul Davis, the developer behind ...
