Re: Ooops!
Yes the charger USB-C port should also be for data as well and there are hubs designed for that so you can connect your PSU to the hub and it passes the power through. On my Lenovo it has both a Lenovo rectangular power connector and a USB-C port that can be used to power it, great for when you ...

Re: PMT in Administration - stores closed
I suppose with the like of youtube and the general switch to buying online a lot of consumers will feel that a youtube demonstration/review is enough for them to make their mind up and as such going to a physical store is not deemed necessary. Even more so given they can just return the item if it's ...

Re: Universal MIDI over USB?
I believe they sell a USB-MIDI host adaptor for it so you get regular MIDI ports, plus there are similar products from other manufacturers, even Behringer make one now.

Re: NimH AAAs
One thing you also have to take account of with batteries is capacity vs. current draw. Batteries can have a different capacity dependant on the amount of current a device is drawing. It's why alkaline batteries were generally crap in digital cameras but Ni-Mh batteries were fine, even the lower ...

Sam Inglis wrote: ↑Mon May 19, 2025 1:36 pm I had a positive meeting with Behringer at NAMM, and was told that they would be willing to start sending us review gear again. As it happens the Wing has been top of my list. Let me see if I can get the wheels moving.
That is good news, a good review from a respected publication is always good.

Re: Could we have a whip round for SOS
Adding to talk about the Behringer Wing, they now seem to trust their customers enough that the internal Dante and WSG cards are user replaceable and there is a tutorial on how to do it on their YouTube page. Interesting that the full-sized and compact Wing hinge up like some keyboards. The ...

Re: Thomann buy Hughes & Kettner
I guess Hans had some money floating around that he wanted to put to some good use and so though buying Hughes and Kettner was a good idea, I doubt he would have brought them if it didn't make financial sense to do it. I suppose this will either end up being one of their higher end in house brands ...

Re: Tannoy Gold 5 Monitors
AFAIK the Coatbridge factory is gone and the high end Tannoy HIFI speakers are made elsewhere in Europe, the UK research and development base is in Manchester and Kidderminster was relegated to being a customer service/repair place.

Re: VHS Tapes to Digital?
Of for the less technically inclined you could get a VHS/DVD Recorder combo. My auntie had a Samsung unit that worked quite well. Be aware, though, that if these videos have Macrovision copy protection you may need a device that defeats it or a capture device that does not care about it. DVD players ...

Re: GAK have closed their shop
I suppose the big issue with most musical instrument retailers is Thomann. If you have a decent amount of debt and you're going against a much bigger competitor who is probably not only more profitable but has no debt how are you going to compete? Also the recent documentary Thomann did is a good ...

Re: Baby's first synth...
Whilst there is some menu diving there is the 49 key Deepmind 12, or you could really jump in head first and get a Behringer Wave (also 49 keys). Even something older like a Roland SH-201 if you want a lot of hands on control, though the lack of a display is a hinderance to some things on it, then ...

Re: X AIR XR16 16-Input Digital Mixer
They are great pieces of kit, though the slightly larger XR18 has the advantage of ultranet and an 18×18 USB audio interface.
Also look at the X32 rack now prices have gone down.
Of course the current best value is the Wing rack but that is £1,145

Was watching a performance of "Dancing in the street" from one of the Princes Trust concerts, only two keyboard players but two drummers and more guitarists that you'd ever need. https://youtu.be/wpJzB5xsG1I Of course having lots of members must be advantageous if one leaves or is unavailable for ...

The MK. 1, at least, is just a few screws and the top hinges up.

Re: Taking gear to the USA?
This thread indicates the folly IMHO of fitting tapped mains transformers in gear like amplifiers. Why fly great lumps of Iron and Copper 1000s of clicks? Far better to optimize the transformer for the country it will be used in. Then it was my experience that NO MATTER an amp had a "US export ...

Well as pictures start coming in from NAMM attendees, just like no one expected the Spanish Inquisition, no one expected there to be a Behringer BX1!!! Image linked from Gearspace.com https://gearspace.com/board/attachments/electronic-music-instruments-and-electronic-music-production ...

Re: The Behringer Keyboards 'n' Stuff Thread #3
Another little titbit from watching other videos on the BX1 is that it has a panel mounted SD card slot as a way to load patches, in a nod to the memory/RAM cards the DX range used to have (and yes, it is DX sysex compatible). Also they've added extra 7 segment displays for the analogue filter which ...

And to add to the previous post, the BX1 is a mostly working prototype, only the built in effects don't work yet. It has 32 voices and therefore 32 CS80 style filters with an LFO and envelopes. Release is planned for next year and will be "affordable". Sonicstate have a video on it, https://youtu.be ...

Well if you want to complain about the effort put in to lyrics then Nik Kershaw rears his head again, The Riddle was minimal effort lyric writing!

Re: When, and why did key changes go out of fashion?
Another pop song I listened to again recently that has a few chord changes (in a somewhat roundabout way, increasing by a semitone? for the bridge and the chorus) is Affirmation by Savage Garden

A well written song in my opinion.
