Re: Waves plugins not working in any DAW.
Unfortunately Waves has become the chief enemy of its own success. I have not invested too much thankfully, no more than about £350, over a few years, with Waves, but from me that is a lot since this is predominantly a serious hobby and not a full time profession yet - music and audio. But that's ...

Re: Please help - I need a high quality flat-frequency, detailed, inexpensive IEM
Thanks for the reply. I'm disappointed that you mention only one pair of IEMs by name. Those were on my shortlist. Many of the reviews I've seen measure only frequency response (and often with quite variable results, as well); the rest is usually subjective commentary of the audiophile type. I have ...

Re: Please help - I need a high quality flat-frequency, detailed, inexpensive IEM
I'll leave a few hints. Youtube probably is the best single source. And some noted reviewers, whose opinions can be trusted - Akros, Paul Wasabi, AndyAudioVault, JaysAudio, Crinacle (albeit he retired from this recently). I've owned an AKG K702 for 10 years (almost) but I would not go back to it ...

Re: Please help - I need a high quality flat-frequency, detailed, inexpensive IEM
Was early March 2024, when I started this thread. Not that long ago - 2 months. Time does fly, and it has sometimes been quite a bit of a nightmare to learn about the current state of headphones and IEMs, as well as speakers. I mixed my best ever mix without using any speakers - not even as a ...

Re: Please help - I need a high quality flat-frequency, detailed, inexpensive IEM
Been there, done that... I'm open-minded, but I remain sceptical. Interesting. I demo'd the Neumann stuff being switched in and out at GearFest and it was the opposite effect. The DSP (more than just room correction in this case I believe) was like lifting a veil. The best parallel I could give ...

Re: Please help - I need a high quality flat-frequency, detailed, inexpensive IEM
How does the DSP know that you're in an L-shaped room, with one speaker against a wall? By using a calibrated measurement mic. :) Been there, done that. Mixes went so much better when we removed the correction. The studio owner persevered for a few months before he gave up. He likened it to mixing ...

Re: Please help - I need a high quality flat-frequency, detailed, inexpensive IEM
Easy to get itchy ears even fungus growth from IEMs so I would suggest frequently cleaning them I clean mine with bog standard anti bac wipes. Sure, one more thing that is of concern, keeping them clean, and avoiding any ear damage, to the hearing or the physical ear canal. Will google this to find ...

Re: Please help - I need a high quality flat-frequency, detailed, inexpensive IEM
Shape of our ear canals plays havoc with IEMs. I purrchased Shure Aonic 215 wired IEM as it was a recommendation, I had to force it into my small ear canals hold it in place. Even then I just didn't like its sound. I preferred my el cheapo House of Marley IEM which fitted easily into my ear canals ...

Re: Please help - I need a high quality flat-frequency, detailed, inexpensive IEM
I have a set of original Apple Airpods and they sound fine, a bit bass light* but otherwise nicely balanced and good detail. Great for casual listening. I also have a pair of wired, custom mould, IEMs, ACS single driver ones and at least 15 years old and they sound great. But I do most of my casual ...

If you're trying to 'reference' what most people listen to, don't forget the Siri/Alexa mono mini-speaker on a shelf at the back of the room! :silent: :lolno: You don't need to overthink this. Mix on high-quality monitoring to maximise your ability to hone the mix. Check loud and quiet. Check in ...

Re: Please help - I need a high quality flat-frequency, detailed, inexpensive IEM
I'm in complete agreement with the above. When it comes to mixing, one good system is better than a collection of average ones, in my humble opinion. I'm always bewildered when I see studio setups where people have, for example, three sets of nearfields almost idential in size (and quality), with ...

Re: Please help - I need a high quality flat-frequency, detailed, inexpensive IEM
Wiggle an IEM a single millimeter and what you hear can change dramatically. These are not devices for critical listening, and I wouldn't advocate them in that role. Even if money were no object I'd still be wary. Looking at 'inexpensive'... it's a unicorn hunt. And why a 'collection'? I see no ...

Please help - I need a high quality flat-frequency, detailed, inexpensive IEM
What would you recommend? I've been having a really good experience listening to IEM's in the £10 price bracket. Caveat, with a bit of EQ applied. Just bought an Apple EarPod the wired one (have not listened to it yet). Aim is to build a small collection of not too expensive IEM devices, which I use ...

Re: Logic Pro 11 Announced
For me the biggest problem with the Logic now is the lack of comprehensive printed documentation. This used to be essential bath time/bedtime reading, but now there's nothing. The on-line help doesn't appear to anywhere near as comprehensive as the old printed manuals. Case in point - I recently ...

Thanks - for SOS, the various publications
Been reading Sound on Sound magazine since the mid 80s. on an off, cos it was a rare treat - expensive and difficult to find in Nigeria, at that time, all copies I read were borrowed from someone who had bought the mag in the UK. And more regularly, since the 2000's when I could afford to buy a copy ...

Re: How do I achieve spacious sound like this?, mixing mono or stereo recorded sources?
Thanks all who left comments here. Re: How do I achieve spacious sound like this?, mixing mono or stereo recorded sources?
I felt that it was a bit artificial and "in your face". It sounded like they were using a cheap Chinese mic on the vocals - or maybe too much Aural Exciter. Maybe they were after that 60s sound where they only had 3 tracks to play with, one for left, one for right and one in the middle. Thanks ...
