Re: "Adjusting the Intonation"?

I think that nearly all the factors mentioned by the 'disputants' are relevant but the most important, and the only ones we can actually compensate for*, are the increase in tension caused by fretting the string and the effect of the 'non-speaking' part at each end of the vibrating string. It's ...

Re: Noisy mics

I have a couple of MacBooks, 2011 and 2020 and in both cases the PSU adapter plug (UK spec) has a metal earth pin but is OC to earth. Using the extension lead instead of the adapter gives a high resistance path to earth (~1kΩ) but as Wonky and Hugh say, that's not adequate as an audio system earth.

Re: Stagepas 600bt issue.PLEASE HEEEELP!!!

Cheers Sam. You're right, no problems with tracks and no scratches etc. Have a pretty standard set, so it's definitely not the songs themselves. I do have all songs on my old phone, but just didn't see the point in taking both devices to gigs. Just don't get why it's been fine on current phone for ...

Re: Stagepas 600bt issue.PLEASE HEEEELP!!!

I think it's well worth trying your old phone, especially if it has a headphone socket, with no sim card and all wireless connectivity switched off. You'll need a 3.5mm TRS to 2 x phono or ¼" TS plugs. I know this is probably the first thing you checked but the glitch isn't in your tracks is it? I ...

Re: Stagepas 600bt issue.PLEASE HEEEELP!!!

Yup  Intermittent faults are always the worst to diagnose. If it never happens at home (though 2 hours is not long enough to be sure) the that suggests something at the venue affecting the phone. Do you stream from your phone memory or from the wifi/5G? I'm assuming not but wifi/5G in crowded ...

Re: Stagepas 600bt issue.PLEASE HEEEELP!!!

We're not suggesting 'workarounds' (yet) but diagnostics/fault finding strategies. Until you can trace the fault to a particular device or cable you won't know if you have a dodgy phone, a dodgy mixer or a dodgy cable (or several). The way to find out where the fault lies is by changing everything ...

Re: Stagepas 600bt issue.PLEASE HEEEELP!!!

I'm guessing you mean 'the other input' not output? You just need a couple of phono to ¼" jack plug adapters but you'll still probably need to try the old phone as well using a headphone to 2 x phono plug cable.

Re: Multiple Synths set-up to record

The Duet 3 only appears to have 2 inputs according to the web page so there is no way to have three mics plugged in at once even with an external mic preamp so in your situation I'd go for an audio interface with more inputs.

Re: Stagepas 600bt issue.PLEASE HEEEELP!!!

Testing using a different source and cable and testing using differenputs is to try to isolate the problem, if it stops happening when you use the same phone and cable but with different inputs then it's likely the fault is with the phono input/channel, if it doesn't but using a different device and ...

Re: Stagepas 600bt issue.PLEASE HEEEELP!!!

If you can try a couple of phono to ¼" jack adapters and plug the phone into a different channel/pair of channels that should tell you where the fault is. Then try a different music source, a different device preferably with an analogue minijack output.

Re: Is my Strat doomed or does yours also...?

He does like the guitar a lot, personally if the fix was as minor as this I wouldn't consider swapping the guitar for another that may not be as good. Just a thought TPv2, if you screw the intonation screw in a half or full turn that should stop it touching the pivot screw and be a way of proving ...

Re: Two good products which would you choose

Birch ply cabinets are used in preference to plastic for professional kit for durability, they are usually accepted as sounding better than plastic but as plastic cabs are usually used for low end speakers and birch for high end stuff that shouldn't be surprising. That doesn't necessarily mean that ...

Re: Small portable PA speakers for classroom workshops?

I have used Roqsolid to make bags for my S1 Pros and my Spark Mini guitar practice amp. Very well made, very reasonable prices and they can do custom designs. Great if you are in the UK, they do ship overseas but not sure how much the 'Orange Thing's' tariffs will affect the prices. https://www ...

Why not fix the Rolands together and screw a handle to the top*?

If not I second Wonky's Bose S1 Pro suggestion (particularly if mono is okay).

Re: Two good products which would you choose

Yamaha DSR range is a significant step up from the DXRs (I have 3 DXR10s and one of mine died just before Covid). They go a lot louder and IMO fall on the transition between high end 'semi-pro' and 'tour grade' kit. They also have the same 7 year warrantee that the DXR and DSR ranges have which ...

I'd kind of like one, just for fun, but I have absolutely no use for it and a very limited toy budget! :D I have an old analogue 'scope and, very occasionally, use it for it's intended purpose. That listing says the direct outs are unbalanced, it doesn't mention the the other outputs so firstly, are you wanting to use the direct outs into the Apollo X6 (which has 6 analogue inputs so it can accommodate up to 6 channels from the desk)? Do you know if the bus or main outputs are unbalanced ...
