Re: Synth Repair

James Walker works for Soundgas these days, fixing their big guns. Don't think he takes on independent repairs any longer. What's the synth/problem? (disclaimer: I do fix synths for a living but I don't want to appear rude by recommending myself :D ) That sounds promising. Do you have a website?

Re: My Song What's She Like on BBC Radio 6

Yeah I've heard people mention Dreamy to describe it a few times. I wasn't going for that, it's just how it turned out.

Re: My Song What's She Like on BBC Radio 6

Thanks for the comments, I really appreciate the support. And thanks for listening to it Barry. Interesting this, I had an email from a guy at the BBC, who produces the show (not the presenter) asking if the song had any "contentious content" (his words) and if so to supply a radio edit. Worth ...

Re: Sleepyhead - new album

Hey JJ, Thanks for taking the time and having a listen, I appreciate the feedback, did you follow or like on Soundcloud? It's all about the stats these days, how many loves you get on Soundcloud, likes on facebook etc. The people up the food chain won't look at you unless you got that. I'll post the ...

Sleepyhead - new album

Hi! Since this is my first post I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Dave Beetham, I formed Manchester band Paranoise in the late 90's. We were chosen by the NME for their new band showcase in London. We disbanded after a very slutty relationship with the late Tony Wilson at Factory Records and ...

Dead Eventide Space pedal, looking to get it repaired.

I've got a dead Eventide Space pedal, which I'd like to get repaired. Anyone know who would be able to fix this thing? Problems are: 1. Power supply is not turning the unit on, (power supply was tested on another pedal and works) 2. The Left mono input was not working prior to it failing. 3. The ...

Re: Should master bus reverb always come last?

Reverb is for the creation of spaces, it is the primary processor, without it - unless you recorded in a superb sounding room - your tracks with inhabit no space. Everything will be dry, everything will exist in a tiny box. To say it is a low level element is missing the point, there are no low ...

Re: Not sure how much reverb to add to vox

A reverb is for the creation of spaces. You can place something into a space with a reverb. Don't think of it as adding reverb to vocals, think of it as putting your vocalist into a space that you created with the reverb. Long reverbs with big spaces sound very epic but we're not all Enya, or ...

Re: How's my mix?

I like this. I'm not sure about the kick or the drums when they come in, I dislike the piano sweeps. I'd say the kick should be 1,3 instead of 1,2,3,4 - the main should either come in like a kit should or just leave it out... I like the ending, the crazy acoustic guitar might be overkill though...

Re: How's my mix? - bluesy folky stuff

I like this, slightly too slow? I like the slap back echo on vocal. Harmonica exists in a different space to the rest of the "band". Slide guitars if nice. Acoustic uke sounds nice. The ambient space for the mix, I'm not sure about. I like the take off bit, when the kitchen sink is thrown in.

Re: Compressor: A necessity ?

So we all know that the compressor is 4 reducing the dynamic range. For example we use it on kicks but what if we are working with a drum plugin? As in this case all the kicks have the same level and there is no dynamic range. So here's two questions: 1. Is it a necessity to use a compressor in ...
