Re: What EQ Was Used for the Abbey Road Reverb Technique?

I understand the technique and use it all the time (in the box). I'm interested in this from a historical perspective - there's so much info out there about Abbey Road and the gear they had - the consoles, outboard, plates, etc. I also build my own gear so I'm curious about whether they used somethi...

Just curious! So much talk about the technique and from what I've read the consoles didn't have HPF/LPF.

What EQ Was Used for the Abbey Road Reverb Technique?

Hi All,

Quick question - what EQ was used for the original Abbey Road reverb technique (i.e. putting a HPF/LPF before the reverb send)?

Cheers,

Chris

Re: XLN Audio Addictive Drums 2 - It's Just a Host, Right?

Expansion packs are just that, to expand the standard drum sounds in the package.

Are what it comes with listed anywhere?

XLN Audio Addictive Drums 2 - It's Just a Host, Right?

Hi All,

I'm thinking of getting XLN Audio's Addictive Drums 2. What I'm not clear about is whether this is just a host for the expansion packs or whether it comes with a kit (or kits) already installed? I couldn't find anywhere on their website that explains this.

Cheers,

Chris

Anyone Using a Tape Recorder as an Effect?

Hi All, I know there's been a few articles in SOS over the years about using tape however the most recent one I've come across seems to be about using it for recording in preference to digital (e.g. Buying a Used Tape Machine back in 2010). I'm interested in using a real tape recorder for saturation...

A History of Neve Consoles

Hi All, I just came across this one: https://postfade.co.uk/early-rupert-neve-consoles-and-their-stories-part-one-1959-1962-the-valve-mixers/ It's a very detailed history of Neve consoles. I haven't had a chance to look through it yet, but it looks very good! "Much of the information available ...

macOS "Other" Storage Problem

Hi All, For a while now I've been plagued by the well-known "Other" storage problem on my 2019 Intel Mac Mini. At present "Other" is using more than 50% of my 250GB HD space. I've done some online research and it seems that the only way to fix this is to do a clean install of the...

Plugin Alliance have the SPL and Lindell. Also Toneboosters.

Re: Waves go subscription only!

Hi All, I never really entered the Waves ecosystem and only have about 10 of their plug-ins of which, only a few don't have clear alternatives (e.g. RVox, C6). Don't think I'll be subscribing to a huge bundle of plug-ins for the couple that I actually use. And as I'm concerned with backwards compati...

Re: Thoughts on Newer Headphone Technologies

I understand the difficulty - especially as different vendors are likely to use different DACs and headphone amps. My only advice would be - as you’re looking right at the top of the market - not to discount high quality dynamic phones such as the top-level Focals. I have heard the Utopias (2020 mo...
