Re: Phantom Power from Preamp to Patchbay?

I have a WA273-EQ which is set up in a similar fashion to the way you describe and it all works fine. Mics (or instruments) get plugged directly in the front and the WA 273's rear line inputs are fed via a patch bay from a pair of outputs on my interface. I only take one pair of outputs from the WA ...

Re: Setting up an extra (remote) display for recording area

Another one for VNC as the remote control service and I use the "RealVNC" clients on mobile to control systems elsewhere. See also Teamviewer as another similar option with free tier which can be slightly easier to setup, although has a more weighty app. Thanks, yes been looking at both V...

Re: Setting up an extra (remote) display for recording area

Thanks, will check VNC out too.

BTW the Steinberg Cubase iC Pro app discussed above is no longer available for Android. Steinberg apparently dropped it some time ago as they weren't happy with it, so that is now off my list.

Re: Setting up an extra (remote) display for recording area

What DAW do you use? Some have remote apps that allow basic transport control etc. Cubase. Steinberg does have an app called IC Pro which would appear to give a decent basic set of controls including transport, key commands, cue mixes etc. The Sound on Sound overview was pretty informative, thank y...

Re: Setting up an extra (remote) display for recording area

Cool! Please let us know the results :) I shall certainly report back as to how I get on. If it works this will be a good step 1. I'm gonna keep investigating remote desktop things too as that should give me access to transport functions and cue mixes etc. I checked and sadly my current OS on the m...

Re: Setting up an extra (remote) display for recording area

I'd just make sure that the two monitors fed from the splitter are the same native resolution, otherwise things might get a bit 'confused'. Thanks, yes I recently upgraded my main pair to frameless ones so have a pair currently lying fallow. They're basically the same monitors with the same resolut...

Re: Setting up an extra (remote) display for recording area

Splendid. I like not expensive, and will start by seeing how we get on with an HDMI splitter.

Re: Setting up an extra (remote) display for recording area

At the moment it works very smoothly and I'm cautious about offending it! say no more! :D Although you've got me thinking - for the most straighforward setup, all I'd really need to do is duplicate one of the existing displays, that would be enough to follow a part from the "booth" - mayb...

Re: Setting up an extra (remote) display for recording area

Take a look at Remote Desktop - it is built into Windows (though you need the Pro version on your Cubase PC to act as a server) and also in earlier versions but will also work on other platforms like Linux and Android (and probably IOS and Mac as well although I've not used it on them). Thanks, I t...

Re: Setting up an extra (remote) display for recording area

Windows will happily handle at least three displays without any problem, have you got a spare socket on your graphics card? A second-hand monitor and long HDMI lead might be all you need. It uses the onboard graphics, just the 2 sockets that run the 2 current monitors. We do have a few monitors lyi...

Cheers for that. I shall investigate Duet further. For our setup either a wireless or a wired network would be fine.
