Re: Vox VT100 amp

Thanks for all the help on this.
I have seen a lot of criticism of the soldering on these amps so maybe that is the issue.
I used the output of the effects send into another amp and it worked ok.Also the headphones out put worked ok.
This would point to a problem in the power amp section?

Vox VT100 amp

My pal has one of these. It plays ok for a few minutes and then looses a lot of volume.
It will then go back to being ok and so on.
I have had a look inside but cannot see anything obvious.
Anyone had the same issue?

Re: Guitar Amp Power Soak

https://www.esr.co.uk/electronics/loudspeakers10.htm

This company sells a 100w 8 ohm L pad for about £15.
The amp is 22w so I assume this would suffice?

Re: Guitar Amp Power Soak

Interesting!! This is the company I was chatting to https://audiostorm.uk/ They said their units had great big resisters in them. Some models also had inductors. I would not like to damage my lovely valve Marshall combo but would like to be able to record it without inducing hearing loss! I am ok wit...

Guitar Amp Power Soak

I have been to a guitar trade fair and got chatting to a chap who makes power soaks.
One of these would be handy for me!
I have done some research and it seems all you need is a L pad attenuator and a box etc?
Might have a go at making one.

Re: Soundlab G742BA2 Powered Mixer

I replaced some capacitors on the power board and it now cuts out after about 20 seconds.
One of the capacitors was in a poor state.
Onwards….

Re: Soundlab G742BA2 Powered Mixer

I got it for £20 including a flight case and I am using it to improve my knowledge of electronics!
I would like to get it all working again but I know what you mean about spending ages on it.
Would it be easy to source and replace the power amp modules?
I think they are 200w each.

Re: Soundlab G742BA2 Powered Mixer

I have got the mixer part to work by replacing a lot of the capacitors on the power supply board. There is still a slight hum at higher volumes though maybe more capacitors need replacing.I tested it via headphones and mixer outputs. When I switch on the unit, the fan on the power amp board fires up ...
