Re: Performing live with 2 identical macs; one as backup
I've never had a redundancy system running simultaneously with the main one, but it looks like a job for a Radial SW8-USB or something similar, possibly more that one of them depending on how many audio tracks you need to run separately. Depends on what you are doing with the computers of course ...

Re: Best Amp under $600 Clean warm round tones, 10 watt?
Maybe go used / pre owned if you want a 'proper' valve amp. I'll suggest you try a Vox AC 15 and see if you like it. They are heavy for their size but well built and the kind of amp that can last a lifetime with the occasional service. As you are in North America it's worth checking out some used ...

Re: Trying to figure out what mic would work for this situation
All of the above, but just to add:
You probably already know, but just in case, make sure that the Zoom Mic settings are on Original Sound so that the noise cancellation processing isn't trying to cancel the piano.

Re: Couch guitars
I have an 'Acoustic' bass made by Ozark - it's useless for playing with other acoustic instruments but a fabulous practice tool - just loud enough to play along with the laptop when I'm working on stuff. For guitar - it's whatever acoustic has ended up downstairs - currently a 1/2 sized Tanglewood ...

Re: Logic Pro: Combine a player and MIDI track to drive a single instrument
I'm no logic expert but I have exported a drummer track to become a midi track in it's own right which I then did some edits on. So if you can do that with the keys you could then add the other information you need via an overdub or drawing in the relevant data or perhaps a separate midi track that ...

Re: Weird electrical problem
A quick update. Since the MCB was replaced, the power has not tripped once. So, fingers crossed, it looks as though that was indeed the problem. Thanks everyone. I had a similar issue in my Caravan, after hours of inspecting and testing cables under sofas and trying to work out if any of the ...

Re: Sending 5 drum mics to one port on a small mixer for a live show?
shufflebeat wrote: ↑Sat Mar 15, 2025 6:32 pm Assuming a standard drum kit.
Single omni condenser in front of the drummer’s (kick drum) knee.
Balance - perfect, just like real life
Phase issues - zero
Hassle - minimal
Annoyance to others - minimal.
This is a good plan if you have access to the right kind of mic +1 from me if you have.

Re: Sending 5 drum mics to one port on a small mixer for a live show?
The Behringer Flow 8 would give you 4 xlr inputs and the option to do some mixing from a distance via a bluetooth app for the balance and some helpful eq options as it's got DSP for the channels, there's a basic compressor available too for each channel. I've got one it sounds pretty good (for a ...

Re: Band looking at our first portable PA
The RCF TT series are superb, proper professional kit. A band I worked with regularly had a pair of 15's (with lower spec RCF 18" subs) and they sounded great. But they are big, heavy and expensive. There's a range of sizes and options and the 10" tops aren't significantly heavier than other ...

Re: Band looking at our first portable PA
There's a lot of this that is budget dependant. Depending on how how you mic the drum kit, I think the Soundcraft UI24 has sufficient ins and out if are looking to do traditional monitor mixes to floor wedges - you haven't mentioned anything about monitoring in the original post. A thing to consider ...

Re: Main lead quality to speakers
I guess it depends on what you think is expensive. Key point for me is having something reliable, but unless the cable is absolutely rubbish then a cheap one will do a good enough job with a line level signal between points A and B. Personally I think that, for example, with a 10m XLR - XLR audio ...

Re: Digital mono summing for Subwoofer?
Yeah that is what was confusing me a bit, consider sub+tops as a single system or as separate components that you can control indipendently during the show. I guess there are different schools of thought about it. I am still considering which one to choose 😁 Mixing individual instruments / stems in ...

Re: Digital mono summing for Subwoofer?
I don't know the capabilities for Ableton's routing options, and I'm not sure if this is actually helpful, but having typed all of the below I'm posting it anyway :-) If you could do a post fader send in Ableton routed to one of the outputs, you might not need to do and overall left right summing ...

The nut slots are not too high according to the measurement you made. So I don't think that's the issue.

Re: Guitar in tune but yet not?
My approach to this kind of thing is to tune the guitar as normal and then play the chords and adjust the tuning by ear to get the best out of each chord on average. Essentially tuning to the key. As Dave said it is worth checking the guitar - divots in the frets / the nut slots are too high ...

Re: To power a pedalboard via a lithium power bank? Any recommendations.
Joyo (and perhaps other manufactures) make a 5v to 9v converter that you can connect into a USB power bank. Works fine for my smaller pedal board using a Daisy chain cable on the output from the Joyo transformer unit for the power to the pedals. Depending on the pedals you use - this may or may not ...

Re: BPM analyzer software?
After a quick go on a search engine, cause it was an interesting problem...
Just tried this site:
https://tunebat.com/Analyzer
Looks promising for what you are after - did an album in about 10 seconds - has the key info too.
Also has a large database that's searchable.

Re: Switch between two guitars (one just piezo other with preamp).
Whilst not the cheapest solution the Headway EDB-2 units could be a pretty viable option - they are having a sale on their website moment. 2 separate EQ's on the latest version, it's like a little mixer, but for acoustic instruments. Best clamped to a mic stand or similar. Otherwise a Boss GE-7 for ...

Thanks again for all the further info and replies - all noted. I agree I’m not 100% sure of even transitioning to digital still but am getting clearer thanks to the help. Re: Small ish Digital mixer for solo artist?
One of my mates uses a Allen and Heath CQ12T with a 4 piece band and is very happy with it.
If 12 channels fit the bill then it might work for you.
No faders, but a built in screen, small footprint.

Re: How Important Is Optimal Gain Structure In A Modern PA System?
If it helps, I don't think you are wrong. However, if the sound person is insistent that they have to use all the toys on the desk, setting the parameters on compressors and gates on everything can be a fiddly business - Perhaps this is the cause of the extra faff time. Whether all this processing ...

Re: 2nd fret buzz
All that Zen said - and I'd also recommend taking the guitar to a competent repairer. If the neck relief is okay, it might be worth checking if the 3rd fret has lifted a little - does it give if you push down on it? If so,tapping it back down again with a softish (brass / plastic) hammer and or ...
