Re: Playback Stutter = graphics

Turned off C states/EIST in the bios? Thanks for the reply. My BIOS doesn't give many options. The only thing that seems pertinent is enable/disable Intel Turbo Boost, which I've tried both...and Dynamic switching enabled/always low. I've pretty much run through the BIOS unless there is a special ke...

Playback Stutter = graphics

What's up, SOS? Great site. Great articles. I can't wait to get a new rig...and I hope IT will be finally glitch free. (sigh) But in reality my setup sux. I've read every tip, trick, tweak out there so many times that I can't remember any. Can you guys throw some ideas out there regarding stuttering...

Re: What causes this stuttering? (XP issue)

AS high as it'll go, which is 500ms. It stops improving much around 50ms. I keep it around there.

Re: Your Recommended Free PC Software

IDK..Is it just me? I have a hard time with free plugins. I think it's because I'm old (40 ) and I'm stuck thinking BEFORE the renaissance of computers when there was a canyon between professional/acceptable gear and non-professional/ "cheap" stuff and forget about free! lol It's t...

What causes this stuttering? (XP issue)

Hello again, So unexplainable CPU spikes have forced me to revert to windows XP for audio. No spikes, but (of course) I am getting dropouts, clicks, pops, stuttering...during playback whenever I move a windows or a fader; basically when I touch anything, depending on its mood. This occurs with Intel...

Re: Windows 7 tweak question (s)

Thanks Actually the video card it came with is an Intel HD. I have never just disabled the graphics driver (though I'll try), but I've chosen to "roll back" the driver several times. It switches to a "VGA Adapter". I have to change the setings....etc. No change really. I've also...

Windows 7 tweak question (s)

Hello SOS, So, I've been trying to squeeze as much as I can out of my "less-than-ideal" Toshiba laptop (dual-core@2.0g , 4g ram, EMU 0404 or Mbox2, xternalHD...). I'm running windows 7, with XP as a dual-boot right now because I had downgraded for a minute....thinking my discontinued EMU m...

Re: DAW using 15% CPU while idle??

To point you in the right direction, use 'task manager' to monitor the active 'processes' and determine which one is loading your CPU. He's already got Process Explorer which is a super duper version of task manager - but I would agree that if you know how to drive Process Explorer you should find ...

Can't help you directly but I note on P19 of the Feb mag that E-MU now have a "new" 0404 usb interface. Hopefully there are some good W7/64 drivers and that they will run the old AIs as well?

Dave.

Thanks I'll check that out.

DAW using 15% CPU while idle??

Hello SOS, I really hope someone can help me track this down. Let me take you to the beginning: I was running: Toshiba laptop / Intel Pentium dual-core @ 2.0ghz / 4G RAM / EMU 0404 USB / 1T Seagate HD with windows 7 x64(OEM) but when I hit a certain point (mixdown), the interruptions were unbearable...

Waves Signature Series......(CLA vocals)

What's up, SOS? Quick question, just out of curiosity, I was wondering if anyone uses this series, namely the CLA vox? I was able to get my hands on the W7 bundle pretty cheap a while ago(right place, right time) I can't say that I would shell out the dough if I had to buy them straight up, but ther...

Re: PCI Latency on Windows 7

Yeah, your DPC looks fine. You may find it behaves better with the gfx performance raised up again. I can't imagine many modern vsti gui's responding well to being run in 16bit mode! You say it's a 4ghz Pentium, without a model number or something that could be from any Intel range in the last deca...

Re: PCI Latency on Windows 7

funnily enough i read a post elsewhere where a guy had the emu 0404 and was having epic troubles with clipping. i also suggested he get a focusrite scarlett. :) Sorry bro, I posted it below. I have 3 audio interfaces: 2 MBox's and a creative EMU, which I'm using. And being a collector of cheap-as-p...

Re: PCI Latency on Windows 7

What sound interfaces have you been trying? What is the system spec? Yeah, I have had poor performance with 3 interfaces, EMU 0404 USB, MBox 1 & 2. Currently using the creative EMU. Perhaps Nevertra would be interested in one of the other two.. lol @Never You could find a servicable one for pre...

Re: PCI Latency on Windows 7

Hey Pete, thx OK specs 4ghz Intel Pentium 4Gb Ram. It is a Toshiba laptop, not at all geared toward audio, more video with an Intel HD graphics card (I set the performance a low as I could. 16 Bit), webcam and skype. Still, I'm only running like 6 tracks of actual audio + a VST sampler (Geist) and a...
