Re: Can you take flight case on a plane? as checked-in bag

A number of times I managed to convince the folks at the check in to let me carry my guitar up to the plane and let them put it into the hold manually, where I would also pick it up after landing. Took some arguing and whining though :) Must have been before 911 thought, I doubt they'd allow it now ...

Re: Best 1176 Clone (Hardware)

Have a look at Stam Audio too. They’ve got clones that combine 3 different revisions in one box! Not only do these sound fantastic, they’re also not that expensive! Only thing with Stam: you have to be patient, as these ship from Chile and are being hand built. So it can take months before they ship ...

Re: Battery options for Zoom H6

Im using a pretty hefty powerbank with my zoom H4n. Works great, phantom power for hours!

Re: Focusrite Clarett downgrade?

RME are excellent products, but what they are most famous for are their ultra solid low latency drivers, something that can’t be said about some other manufacturers. So that’s definitely a reason to consider RME. As for the Audient, beware that the ASP800 has only inputs, no outputs, it’s only AD con ...

Re: Ditching the guitar amp.

Whenever I heard guitar players using multi Fx straight into PA, their sound was dull, unexciting and lifeless. The Kemper might be a different matter, but all those multi Fx do-it-all-amp-emulation boxes just don't cut it. Even a small amp is lightyears ahead of those IMHO. I'd rather carry some ...

Re: SSL G comp clone. Anyone used this one?

Hello guys, long time no see! http://www.neko-neko.co.uk/ssl-compressor-clone/ Looks promising, and have spoken with the fella who makes. Looks and sounds fantastic and a fraction of the price of a real one Any experience here? Oh, these are great! I received mine not too long ago last December ...

Voodoo on the venue. Is it possible?

Hi, probably a weird title for this thread, but what was going on yesterday on the gig I played is just too weird. All the equipment acted up, and today everything seems to be back to normal. It all started early on during sound check, when we realised there was no signal coming from the keyboards ...

Re: T.Bone Ovid System Acoustic Guitar Microphone for Live Use

I used to have one. Pretty fragile I have to say. The clamp didn't survive the first day (maybe I'm too strong though) and the mic itself with it's very flimsy cable acted up not long after. It sounds OK, but it's just too fragile!

Re: TC Electronic Nova System

However, has anyone else had issues with the effects not switching off properly? When the reverb or harmonizer etc is switched out of a patch, it is still there at very low level in the backgound. So when using it for recording and wanting to record a compeltely dry guitar, it is not possible. It's ...

Re: Problem with Fender Blues Jr Amp

The Blues Junior is somewhat prone to cold solder joints, especially on the valve sockets. Some users resolder them first thing, when they get a new BJ. It's not a big problem, but something that needs to be taken care of anyway. Hight voltages in a Valve amp can be very dangerous that's right, but ...

Re: Project Ukulele

I won't argue about the damned silly instrument bit, but I did think that the tuning was effectively the top four strings of a guitar capoed at the 5th fret? Yep, that's right. Which leaves us with G C E A. So you can play all your guitar chords on the Uke (minus the bottom two strings), only their ...

Hi Zen, you there? Everything alright? Another two months have passed, and no Uke-news. I'm starting to think you might have lost interest in finishing those two gorgeous Ukes! Please don't give up! You're doing a wonderful work!
And I love following this thread!

Re: Is 6 too young for a first steel string guitar?

First of, I found that 6yo kids are mostly a little young to learn an instrument like guitar. It's not like a piano, where you press a key and there you have your tone. One key for each note etc. Guitar is more complex. Plus, as already said, it's often a matter of powerful fingers or the lack ...

Re: Project Ukulele

Hi there. I keep checking back to this thread, but it seems nothing is happening here anymore. Is it weather related? To cold to do anything? For all I know I'm waiting for spring to arrive, so I can slap some lacquer on a guitar I'm working on.
I hope zenguitar is well! Zenguitar! You there?
