Re: Reverse guitar solo live

The reverse effect in my Pod Go sounds great - I use it live on a few songs for a psychedelic vibe. String bends in particular sound really good. Personally, I like the slightly chaotic quality it brings to a solo.

Re: Electric guitar + violin bow

I have the original eBow and a newer one and the cool Sustainiac Model C. You feel your guitar vibrating like it’s alive! I investigated the Fernandez system but it didn’t work well on a retrofit and the built in ones were too expensive. Funnily enough, I have four Fernandes guitars with sustainer c ...

Re: Fishman Triple Play Wireless Users?

I still use one. The tracking is great and some sounds work especially well following string bends. I wish there was a version that could be fitted inside the guitar as I think it’s an ugly box and the push switch system to toggle through settings is terrible so best left alone… for studio use it wor ...

Re: What Is Your Favourite Looper?

For live use with my band I've settled on the Boss RC300... which has its foibles but is mostly stable and covers most basic looping functions. But when playing solo guitar looping shows, running the (now defunct) Mobius looper software inside MainStage controlled from a FCB1010 foot controller ...

Re: Active monitor for guitar modeller

FWIW I have both the Headrush FR112 and the Alto TX310. The headrush does sound better - but it weighs a bloody ton and the convenience of the Alto often makes it preferable - it’s still loud enough for on stage monitoring and my modeller obviously sounds the same for the audience through the main P ...

Re: Anyone tried the latest version of Guitar Rig?

I use Pod Go as my live rig and Guitar Rig 7 for the studio. For what I do, Guitar Rig 7 is hands down the best option. I know many players like the sound of the line 6 cabs, and they may well sound very authentic, but really the choice between line 6 and Guitar Rig comes down to practical needs and ...

Re: Microverb 3 - Swapping for a midiverb, is it worth it?

There was definitely a Digitech that offered 4 independent FX with their own I/O. I inherited one from my brother but the flight case with it isn't easily accessible so I can't give more detail. Andy  The Digitec Quad. I have one in my rack though it's a long time since I used it. Has a ...

Re: Boss RC-505 problem with loop measures

How are you setting the loop length you want? I have patches where I have prerecorded loops on loop one - this sets the tempo and number of bars. Subsequent patches can then be set to record a number of bar lengths relative to this first loop. are you using prerecorded loops or starting on the fly ...

Re: New Squier Jaguar tuning issue

In my original post I had the same thought - that mis-spaced frets are extremely unlikely to be the issue on a modern mass-produced instrument. Also, without some kind of digital gauge I think I'm unlikely to be able to check the positions with the accuracy required - it's obviously fractions of ...

Re: New Squier Jaguar tuning issue

Many thanks for the detailed suggestions - much appreciated 👍🏻 Holding down the first and 12th fret the neck relief I would guess is around 1/2 a millimetre. But I think the nut height is possibly just a little on the high side, so I may try a slight lowering. I initially raised the action to get rid ...

Re: New Squier Jaguar tuning issue

Almost everything about a fretted stringed instrument is a compromise and improving one aspect will almost certainly have knock-on effects on others (like the relationships between tension/compliance and tone). It's down each player to decide what compromises work for them and what don't. The OP ...

Re: New Squier Jaguar tuning issue

Martin - thanks for the suggestion of the gauge. Another toy to buy... BigRedX - this makes sense. The whole instrument is a very different feel to most of my other guitars, and the strings do indeed feel very loose compared with the feel of my other instruments. I've just fitted 11 gauge strings ...

Re: New Squier Jaguar tuning issue

It’s an odd design! I might try the plastic tubing idea as to get the guitar intonated it needs to be kept rocked back toward the trem. Not sure what gauge the current strings are by the feel very light - I bought the guitar as I fancied something that would be good for hard strumming so have o ...

Re: New Squier Jaguar tuning issue

Many thanks for the suggestions - I haven’t fitted new strings so that’s probably a sensible first step - not sure what gauge they are but they feel a little light. …am surprised the scale length is 24 - the neck actually feels longer (and wider) than most of my other guitars. New Squier Jaguar tuning issue

So after a bottle of red I clicked on a link to buy a new Squier Jaguar from a box shifter store. The way you do. It was immediately obvious it had tuning issues. The bridge design is new to me - the bridge can easily be rocked back and forth on the mounting pins. I assume this is by design, but it ...

Re: Plug in to remove reverb to recorded dialogue on film

I think even when you have a choice of using ADR it is at least partially a stylistic choice. I personally hate the ADR aesthetic and in the TV series and films I’ve made even when I tried it I ended up preferring the natural quality of poorly recorded sound. But as I say, that is primarily an a ...

My secret brand tip is to try a Crafter. I have six of their acoustics and all play exceptionally well. The last two I bought were 70 quid each on eBay. One is an immaculate OM style all solid hardwoods that sounds exceptional IMO.

Correct. A failing of a hastily drafted reply.

On another note, lovely as the guitar looks, I could never list after one without neck binding.
