Re: Amplifier - wiring help required

Nice, and all the while people are relying on food banks and freezing. I have been a staunch Cathode Follower all my adult life but I do drop supplies into a local church when I can, never been to a service of course but I hope they are not that well equipped! Sorry for the OTT swerve but there doe...

Re: Amplifier - wiring help required

"ungodly" made me smile :D Quite common for large systems in churches these days. The church we go to now has DB Audiotechnic main PA with couple of Yamaha TF mixers. The church we moved from a year ago has 4 flown clusters of DB Audiotechnic (short line arrays) with an Allen & Heath D...

Re: Old H&H loudspeakers- any good?

If you want some nostalgia, there's a scan pdf of that whole line of HH pa and musician products from the late 70s here: https://www.technicalaudio.com/pdf/HH_Electronic/HH_Electronic_Sound_Equipment.pdf With the VS Musician combo :D When I started playing that was the amp we longed for. Re: Onboard preamp for K&K

The former I reckon, cheers for that. How well does it do what it says it does? Works & sounds fine to me, nothing to make me think there's a problem - other acoustic guitars I have to compare are a 1960's Yamaha FG180 with a Fishman Rare Earth pickup, & a 2016 Taylor K24CE with Taylor's ES...

Re: Onboard preamp for K&K

Don't know if this will be useful info, or just more background noise :) I have Martin a LX1 to which I wanted to fit a pickup & preamp of some sort. I decided DIY was the way forward & adopted the highly scientific approach of "what could possibly go wrong?" So I made my own versi...

Re: MM Electronics 16 x 4 rare (and old) mixer

No, there were some other versions... I bought a 4 output group version brand new, pretty sure it was an 8:4 but might have been 12:4. Don't recall any tape returns back into channels, but it did have limiter on each of the 4 outputs (= the reason I bought it). Unfortunately the limiters were either...

Re: Replacement for a BCR2000

The PCB says "B-CONTROL SERIES" ...so I'm wondering if your BCF2000 has the same supply board inside it?

If so, and the BCF works, maybe try swapping them?

Re: Photo Editor for Mac/iPad?

I used to be a Photoshop user, but refused to join in when they switched to subscription-based. I'm now retired anyway, but use Serif Affinity Photo on Mac, which is quite similar to Photoshop. There is an iPad version (though I haven't looked at that). https://affinity.serif.com/en-gb/photo/ It's a...

Re: automating tap tempo

...or, as in my case, you use a single tap-tempo pedal (micro.clock) to update 2 (or more) pedals to the same tempo at the same time. I've not explored its MIDI functions, but the jack outs on the micro.clock only send around 6 or 7 pulses and then stop. If the receiving pedals drift over time a sin...

Re: automating tap tempo

Disaster Area produce a number of boxes/pedals that might help - I use their micro.clock to send tempo out to a dual delay pedal & an RC5 looper.

Re: Possibly dumb question about combining speaker cabs

If using 2 speaker cabinets (and assuming you have both cabinets facing the same way) I would also check that the cones are both pushing (or pulling) together. I'd use a 1.5v AA battery. Assuming we're talking about jack connections for the speakers, plug a lead into one cabinet, connect battery -ve...

Re: Electronic Components suppliers for the hobbyist.

I've used BitsBox a few times - don't recall there being any minimum order, postage is reasonable and delivery has always been prompt.

Re: Battery Powered PA Speakers?

Jez Corbett wrote: Thu Mar 10, 2022 7:51 pm The Bose looks a little more 'musical' and on the small sound, but the LiOn battery over Lead Acid (they still make those?) is definitely preferable.

I don't think Li-ion batteries will be very happy in especially cold temperatures - lead/acid may well be the better choice?

Re: Bose S-1 battery issues

Haven't tried any sub with my S1Pro. Also haven't used my S1 for many weeks (over a year at an actual gig) - so just got it out the backpack. Due to lack of use the S1 had obviously put the battery into sleep mode... fed it some mains for about 20 seconds to wake the battery up again, & the batt...

Re: Wot I just finished building...

Good point on the switches, I think that the standard ones will work. I think the supplied push buttons will be better then toggles in terms of not accidentally actuating them. (and they are black) I've fitted GK3 in a twin humbucker SG-ish guitar and used 2 mini toggles - a normal 3-way toggle to ...
