Re: Using extension lead for guitar amp - dangerous?

There shouldn't be any problems as long your extension is properly wired.

You should never overload the socket or the cable, but a 40W amp and a pedal board wouldn't be anywhere nearing that.

Re: One Synth Challenge 2023

Martin beat me to it!

No restriction on effects. Going back in the mists of time, the original premise was to learn what you could achieve with a single instrument and hopefully learn a bit more about it. Effects would be for production/polishing.

Re: One Synth Challenge 2023

The percussion thing was Dave B's idea when he used to do it because he didn't like synth percussion. If I could change the rules now, I'd make it _everything_ in one synth :D

Re: One Synth Challenge 2023

I have to say I'm always a bit torn about sample mangling in the one synth challenge, as you end up using a further filters and envelopes so takes some of the sound generation away from the original instrument.

On the other hand, sod it, knock yourself out! :bouncy:

When you've completed it, simply upload it somewhere (e.g. Soundcloud, DropBox) and send the link to me via PM.

Which does lead me to add that you can submit as many as you like, just each with a different synth.

Now that's just sneaky

Two different Sound Canvasses doesn't count BTW :P

One Synth Challenge 2023

Righto, now we've got the 5th forum album in the rear view mirror, I think that means it is time for another One Synth Challenge. Usual rules - pick one synth, analogue, digital or software, construct a piece of music using only that synth, drums from a separate instrument are allowed. If we set a d...

Re: When does it become cheating?

I don't even consider backing tracks cheating if you're open about what you're doing. I always used to arrange mine such that the live parts would be a challenge (although to be fair, my keyboard skills mean that Three Blind Mice is a challenge )

Ah, you probably think that song is about you...
